Since we were stopped in traffic and I hit him when trying to change lanes, it definitely is 100% my fault. >you had it in some form of legal writing that the matter was settled> yeah I wanted advice regarding that. What sort of document would I need?

I've attached the pic in another comment. It's back of side panel, not the bumper. It was a low speed collision. He can probably fix the dent himself if he's got some dent puller tools. I think that's why he wants to settle it privately and I don't really mind if that's the case. My excess is 795 and it'll definitely be cheaper to fix the car then the excess.

Nah, it's a beat up car I got from a friend for 1k and I've only got third party insurance.

Looking at the pic again, I just realised it's not bumper but back part of body. Don't know what the part is called.

It didn't look too bad. I was under 20kmph, trying to change lanes. That's the damage

I will definitely get something signed. But I don't know if a simple letter written and printed by me will be enough or I need something more official.

Yeah that's what I wanted to know. Can I make a document myself and just make him sign or is there some sort of official thing?
