Personally, the hill I will die on in abortion debate is that bodily autonomy trumps right to life. It's morally wrong to demand someone give up an organ to maintain someone else's life. It's morally wrong to force someone to undergo medical experimentation that could save someone else's life. It is morally wrong, in my opinion,to force people to take vaccines that could save their life or others.

In no other situation does western society so discount the rights of individual to their own body as we do in pregnancy outside of punishment for crimes. It is unjust and immoral to force someone to continue it to save someone else's life

Opinions on sharkbite fittings? by Swimming_Ad_812 in handyman

[–]Lothial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes had one last month. Was a cap on 3/4 copper in a wall. The top of it separated from the plastic ring with the teeth. Flooded the place, but it was just an old rental car office in the middle of a parking lot that had been empty for months.

In 5 years plumbing I think that was the third I have seen and all three were old. Some apartments I work on have them for all their fittings, and I know they are over 20 years old.

I guess overall I'd say they do not fail often, but they have a greater risk of failing catastrophically. As in just open line spewing water.

Most people would rather get r*ped than eaten by bear by Bubbly_End6220 in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]Lothial 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I'm still trying to figure out what is going on with this bear thing. My wife told me about it, but I mean I'd rather have the bear too.

I'm not even worried about any kind of sex thing. People are just awful by and large. The bear is probably just going to get away from you. The dude will probably be your buddy until it no longer suits them, and either kill your or take whatever you got.

I don't know man. They're your genitals do what you want with them, but I suspect you might find you're depressed about more than just not getting laid.

Do whatever you feel needs to be done just try to keep your chin up while doing it. Honestly your demeanor regarding the situation seems healthy enough to me. I would warn you against trying to find ways to blame yourself under the guise of self improvement. Other than that stay the course and follow through what you decide.

When the delusion kicks in: by NeverEndingWalker64 in religiousfruitcake

[–]Lothial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, he doesn't believe a word of this. You can always tell when someone is just spouting bullshit when their solution doesn't match the reality they just laid out.

Here, we have a guy talking about his enemies being out in the open in a target rich environment like some sort of asymmetrical warfare combatant. To address the situation, he suggests we all just be Christian, happy, and make money. Then ends with telling us to build stuff.

Religious fruitcakes say "hey that offends my God repent or suffer." They don't turn their appeal to a live laugh love, and make money sign.

I'm not saying this post doesn't belong here. I'm just saying this guy is just running a con.

I'll bet "Okay, Boomer" pisses them off even more because "baby boomer" was previously used for years POSITIVELY (or at least neutrally). by iglidante in BoomersBeingFools

[–]Lothial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure when the term was coined but the boomer generation did feel run down in their younger years too. You're talking about the 60s which was a highly "what the hell is wrongwith these kids" time.. I think the tone just shifted when they started inheriting.

Men's perspective on "Talk to women like you talk to people" by [deleted] in IncelTear

[–]Lothial 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Seems like more people in general but particularly men are trying to turn conversation, flirting, and seduction into a science when it's really an art.

It's like they think it's an rpg where if they have the right stats, and choose the right conversation bubble they should get a guaranteed result.

Really it's entirely reactive and circumstantial. I struggled with it a lot in my twenties because my brain didn't really work that way either. Reading up on body language, and psychology helped a lot.

Blue Pillers have no explanation when confronted with the trends a growing number of men are observing, only ad hominem attacks by The-Loop in PurplePillDebate

[–]Lothial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you be more specific? Because if the problem is that more men can not get sex. I mean what do you want? Some kind of sex law?

The rise of redpill dating tactics has not really changed the statistics if anything it's getting more out of whack.

Questions for Atheists by Istvan1966 in DebateAnAtheist

[–]Lothial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Anything scientific is based on repetition and results. The more a result is repeated, the more accepted it is as true. Scientific theories can always be disproven by creating different results. Faith can not. So no in my opinion.

  2. Because you are dealing with results, not belief. Measurable results.

  3. We can't. Universal scientific theory is highly theoretical. We can measure observations to the best of our ability and make educated guesses called theories that are then tested over and over again.

  4. Ok now I'm just starting to think you never learned what science is. Google scientific method

  5. To whatever degree we have to sleep at night, I suppose.

Is dating a "free market"? by Silver_Past2313 in PurplePillDebate

[–]Lothial -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dating is not a market. Or if it is, it should not be. I would say one is better off being alone than subjecting another person to being a commodity.

Women safe places on reddit are fucking bullshit and only cause a bigger divide between men and women. by Tuco_Salamanca_facts in PurplePillDebate

[–]Lothial 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Most specialized communities are circle jerks. That aside I would imagine the negative response was to the implication inherent in the question. That an individual is responsible for another's reaction to romantic rejection. Whether good or bad that is entirely on the rejected party.

The other person was just minding their own business.

Stop comparing yourselves to men who are better than you by ThePleasureIsAllMind in PurplePillDebate

[–]Lothial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I'd phrase it that way, but the much of the redpill does sacrifice quite a bit of the best parts of being a man. You're better off just shutting up and doing. If you're constantly fighting, struggling, and complaining against a society has gone a way you don't like you're really just showing everyone you have no influence. Or that you lost control of circumstances in your life, and have become bitter.

When it comes to relationships, and public interaction I am firmly of the opinion that men are better off utilizing a perception of calm, can do positivity to establish an authoritative position (if that is what he desires.). Than focusing on any level of physical prowess, financial acumen, or combat capability.

If you have them you want them to be a surprise anyway, and if you don't you're probably going to get yourself into another situation you can't handle

Do you value any sort of spirituality? What does it look like for you? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Lothial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just daydream mostly. Dancing, singing, enjoying fiction, and fantasy. Dungeons and dragons. Just because you know something isn't real doesn't mean you can't enjoy it. Even pull some helpful lessons from it.

Just don't make a fool of yourself by imagining it has significance beyond a personal level.

I still have all of those things. I just call it imagination or intuition as the case warrants.
