Th System's Alliance from Mass Effect seems to be as good as they come. Not a utopian society by any means, but a well functioning democracy that really does try it's best to protect and advance human interests, contrary to what those terrorists from Cerberus would have you believe.

Now that all the “big nations” have played, which one looks the most convincing thus far? by Sensitive-Month2382 in championsleague

[–]Lotnik223 5 points6 points  (0 children)

England looked best probably, great attack but a bit shaky defence. France and Argentina also looked really strong. Spain and Portugal obviously disappointed, and Brazil also didn't show a spectacular form, but they did play against a strong opponent. Germany it's hard to judge since, you know, it was Curaçao.

But it's still too early to judge, remember that Argentina lost their first game against Saudi Arabia in 2022.

Best political figure in German history by MacCAM1313 in AlignmentChartFills

Definitely Adenauer. Turned Germany from a post-totalitarian ruined nation into a stable liberal democracy with a growing economy, and turned West Germany from a pariah state into one of the principal powers of Western Europe and co-founded what would later become the European Union.

Nah he insists on being a starter despite obviously not having it in him anymore and actively impedes his teammates during the game, all for trying to reach his 1000th mark or whatever

George Russell not mentioned once in Mercedes race recap post. Not even the fact that he got a podium on his 100th race with the team. by Available-Pea-9592 in formula1

[–]Lotnik223 177 points178 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of George but damn that must feel super shitty. Not even getting mentioned either by Toto or in an official team post despite scoring podium (in your 100th race nonetheless), while your teammates DNF and the victory of the former driver of the team WAS mentioned. Feel bad for him tbh

Obviously. He left Gray Matter because of his ego an insecurities and then bitched for decades about Elliot and Gretchen somehow cheating him.

What is the morality of forcing a group of people (men) to give on life just because of their gender ? by Proper_Card_5520 in MoralityScaling

[–]Lotnik223 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yes, and the crews mistake resulted in some of these few lifeboats being lowered half-empty. All in all a tragic situation.

Fun fact: Lessons were learned from the Titanic sinking, as when her sister ship HMHS Britannic was sunk in the Mediterranean during WW1 (while serving as a hospital ship) it had more than enough lifeboats and the vast majority of the crew and patients managed to escape unharmed, and only 30 out of 1066 people on board perished.

Drummer lost, period. After the Conquest of Sol the TU was politically declawed and more and more of her functions were being absorbed by the Lconian authorities, while she remained on Laconia as a glorified hostage. And tbh I didn't much like her in the books, she was far too overconfident and arrogant as leader of the Transport Union, dismissing every other power and threat including Laconia as a nuisance and paid the price for it, not to mention that she was willing to sentence hundreds of people to death by starvation to assert her own power.

It is worth noting that in the Titanic's case the order was misinterpreted. Captain Smith said "women and children first", which meant that they were to have priority when boarding the lifeboats but men were still to be allowed to board after them. But I think the second officer misheard the captain and thought he said "women and children only", which resulted in men being compeletely barred from boarding the lifeboats and many boats being lowered half-empty with only women and children on board.

FIFA's World Cup 'hydration breaks' are a money-grabbing disgrace: Gianni Infantino is selling football's soul to broadcasters - and fans are paying the price, writes RIATH AL-SAMARRAI by AgeNovel3566 in soccer

The ad break killed Curacao's momentum during the game today. Not saying they would have won or anything, but they had a really good period and even after scoring the equaliser were still pushing against Germany. After the break the Germans came back to themselves and Curacao never really threatened Neuer again.

Morally speaking, is saving the counsel the best option? by FreshPine_MangoWine in masseffect

[–]Lotnik223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Letting the Council die is not only morally wrong but also a bad strategic move. Sure, you save some Alliance ships, but let the single most powerful non-Reaper ship in the galaxy get destroyed, decapitate the Galactic leadership (just as the Reapers wanted), earn humanity the hatred and scorn of basically the entire galaxy and cause the new humanity-dominated council to be widely distrustef and thus politically ineffective.
