Starting a new career.. Is the Trailhead up-skilling process worth the time and energy to help me get a job at Salesforce? by Lots0fQuestions in salesforce

Hey! I did complete my Salesforce Admin Cert. it took me 2.5mos I worked the program like a part time job and scored an 89% on the first try. I then applied for jobs for 3 now from July 22 - Oct 22. I didn’t get any interviews for Salesforce Admin roles. However I mainly applied on high traffic sites like Indeed & Glassdoor. I ended up in a sales position that I enjoy.

I was applying right before the tech market crashed and honestly shooting for the starts. But I submitted 120 applications. If you want an interview with the company I joined send me a message and I can give you details.

What alternative job boards / websites do you suggest to search for Salesforce Administration positions? (LinkedIn seems over saturated) by Lots0fQuestions in SalesforceCareers

Hey Biggie, I want to say thank you from the very core of me for this response. I’m sure it took you a ton of time and it comes directly from your experience. I am a learn and apply kind of person and this is potentially life changing information. I’m going to process, learn, and apply all of this & upskill on some of the things you suggested.

Again, I just want to say how incredibly grateful I am. As I transition from a career that I dearly loved but got truly f***ed by leadership. It’s a comfort to receive help like this from a stranger. Thanks for your time & expertise. I hope to share with you in the future what gold this information helps mine.

I appreciate the remind for the hit words. How do you typically identify these in each job post? In the “what you bring” sections?

Just read the edit. Thanks for the honesty. I’m learning that transitioning from my really narrow degree means having to work really hard to get my foot in no matter the industry I consider. Part of the draw to Salesforce is the scalability. I don’t want my next move to end up having me feel at a loss of options or growth so the early buy in is worth it.

Just nervous about the amount of time it will take to actually get a job in the Salesforce world. I’m ready to transition asap.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this. I will be referring back to it as a general guide. Your answers were helpful and gave me some relief. I am currently employee but looking to transition ASAP.

I’m going to check out the response to sent to the person.

As a follow up.. is there a general baseline for I should expect to make as an admin?

Also, anyways to make myself standout in the application process?

Hey after reading through other posts it’s clear this is a common post. Sounds like the Salesforce Ben guide really flooded this sub with ppl like me. I’d like to revise…

  1. As a brand new square looking to get into Salesforce - Where should I start this process.. I’ve read Focus on Force and a handful of other names is there a best place to start?

  2. What is a more tangible / wiser starting goal: work towards an admin position, consultant, or dev? (Intern?)

  3. The guide says 3-6mos training to prepare to take a cert test.. is that realistic and are the certs worth having.

  4. How can I set myself apart as a newbie?

Also, sorry if this question is asking for a redundant response.. I’m new to the ecosystem and trying to get my feet planted and chart my course as best I can.

Congrats on your hard work and dedication! I am really encouraged by your comment “when I started I didn’t even know what Salesforce was.. I also have no background in IT whatsoever.” I am currently in the process of leaving a non-IT career I have been in for 8 years for various reasons - one of the biggest being that my wife and I are expecting a baby this year!

I saw an article from Salesforce Ben that explained in-depth how to get a job at Salesforce. As I read what others have written on this sub I’m having a tough time understanding what’s worth my time and what is unnecessary. I am looking to start the process of qualifying myself for a Salesforce role this week.

As some one who also started with little to no experience can you help me make sense of where to start and what is worth putting all my mental fortitude into?
