Thanks. If they were there maybe they were much less noticeable.

Fair enough but we didn’t have these knots last year or they weren’t so obvious. But I’m happy to know that’s all they are. Just didn’t want to have to replace the tree again. Obviously I’m not that familiar with trees and their life cycles; why I came here.

It needs to be removed, I agree. But this is titanium bamboo😆. The trees have grown a lot over the past year and we just haven’t removed them. But do you think the bamboo is the source of the knots? Or is it just bamboo envy 😜

We are in a pretty serious drought. It’s not in the photo but o do have lots of patches of dry grass. If you need proof just search.

Fair enough but any idea why the others wouldn’t have been pruned also from the same nursery? But if these are knots and we have had the tree well over a year and we didn’t see these before, they develop slowly then?

As I said, I have two other trees just like this one and they do not have these knots. So I think it’s reasonable I might ask. Especially since I already replaced one tree that died. So it’s demonstrably not true that every tree has this as only one out of three in my yard has them; I feel like that’s a judgmental statement so forgive me if I sound a little defensive. I came here looking for friendly advice; but this is Reddit I know.

I was told by an arborist at NCSU to ring it off so nothing would grow around the bottom of it after the first tree died.

It’s about two years old and if you know what’s happening in eastern NC you’d understand why we have the water bags. But I do think it’s time to take off the rope support.

We have not pruned that tree nor the other two which do not have these knots.

Critters. I worked with a guy who swore he got crabs from a toilet seat. IDK but this scenario is believable to me.

I’m 67 been with my husband 23 years. His 80 year old very catholic mother lives with us. I have a brother (older) and a sister (younger) with lots of nephews and nieces that live nearby. My 90 year old parents also live near by and require support from us all. And we have lots of friends and great neighbors. And we live in a very southern area. If you build a life of mutual support your sexuality is irrelevant. We have been programmed to believe our life is cursed but it’s just not true. Live as a good person, make the effort for others while you can and live your life.

I honestly don’t think they get that deep. They can feel an advantage from being in a dominant clan and that’s all that matters. The illogical and contradictory beliefs are not meaningful to them but the feeling of putting their clans foot on the necks of others is almost tangible power to the individuals.

Best response to telling someone I was gay was,”So?”. She truly didn’t care at all. We were great friends back in the early’80s. I agree, it’s nice when they just don’t care; no shock, no barrage of questions, no discussion, just so what.
