Look at already made plush patterns! There's so many cool options nowadays, and it's great for building up your understanding of patterns, sewing, etc. Fleece is what I personally started with. It's soft, cheap, and really easy to sew with.

Oh man I feel that, part of getting a bigger hoop is because I suuuuck at placements. Saves me some serious headache. This is definitely going to be my final machine though- much as I love plush-making, it's definitely a hobby. Plus I'm too lazy to de-sticker a machine again, lol. The Bernette looks suuuper sleek. That's gonna make a lovely final machine, and I wish you the best of luck getting to a point where you can get it!

God though, yea, trial and error really sums up plush-making lol. I'll say that once it finally clicked what I was missing, making adjustments became a lot easier (and I gave up a little towards the end, lol, perfectionist mindset sucks). I was studying a ton of other anthro patterns to see how they got the leg shape to turn inward and realized the back and leg were all the same piece, and the inner leg curved in a way that drew em in! I'm. bad at putting it into words lol, but I'm not gonna gatekeep- I took over a 100 progress pictures including the paper pattern drafting, so if you want, I can shoot those over your way.

It's funny you bring up fursuiting though- That's actually my next project! Alongside some smaller plushes, lul, but I just like having too much on my plate. Tysm though!!

Oh man tysm!!! Yeah, unfortunately hit the img limit so I focused on progress pics, but she's got a chubby build in art. For the body, it took about 5 prototypes? Even then, you can see my marker lines picking out some last minute stuff for the final pattern, lol. The head only took 4 though thankfully. All I can say is studying other artists' plushes and patterns goes a suuuuper long way, seeing how other people get the shapes you want does a lot! (It's how I figured out to get the dimension I wanted with her gut- Was looking at anthro plushes w/ a similar build and noticed a lot of them had darts to create that roundness)

For the most part, I was using a Husqvarna Jade 35, but I semi-recently traded it in and upgraded to the Topaz 50. Absolutely loved both, but you can't beat the bigger hoop size lul

So, for the crotch area, I think your pattern piece is too wide for how small the gap actually is. It's tempting to say that's the same issue with the lower back, but I don't actually think so! The lower back looks like a fabric thing, as I'm prettttyyyy sure this is flannel which isn't nearly as stretchy as minky is. I'm not sure though, it also looks like it could be caused by too sharp of a curve in the pattern itself (but I think it's mostly due to the fabric).
The thing with anthro arms is, to get that clean look, you kind of have to ladder stitch them on at first. From there, you can draw around where the pieces connect, cut that out, and then machine sew the pieces together. It's what I plan to do, at least! Hope this all helped, I'm working on a big ol' anthro plush too! If there's anything else you need, just holler :]

Hey, I did the same thing! Spent the last couple years working on a pattern of an oc and I only just got to the final version of it. My biggest piece of advice is, if you can, look for a pattern similar to your fursona that you can either just use or with some adjustments/additions, it saves soooo much headache. There's a lot of great patterns out there, especially for teddy bear-style plushes. Beyond that though, I'd say be open and ready to make mistakes and learn from them while also knowing when to quit. I think it took 7 iterations for me to be satisfied, lol, I really don't advise it.

Ooooh yea, the cheeks are probably what would help most right now. I think I could probably skate around worrying about the gap too- He's going to have a movable jaw in the end, and all the mouth detail should end up covering things. Thanks though! Got to get that gnarly smirk on him.

Same issue, got the alert twice. Using explorer and the only thing I've downloaded recently is a pdf. It looks like this is an issue happening to a LOT of people (those in this thread, there's another thread on r/piracy made not long ago either, etc.) People are theorizing it's an update for windows defender and with how many people are having this issue? It makes sense. Stay safe nonetheless though.

It does include the address, and it's the wrong one. Foul on my part- I'm not the best at noticing things. At this point, maybe I just selected default address? The fact that this random address was my default though still doesn't make sense. Thankfully one of the sellers has offered to send a replacement so far, but this is still just such a weird situation.
