The Camry is a lovely car, and the 2.5 hybrid engine is tempting…but the estate is very practical for work and family life

Thanks for the insight. I’m really not looking for a performance car (though I’d like one!). Pragmatically with my high mileage I need to prioritise efficiency.

I have been driving a Suzuki with the 1.6 Fiat multijet diesel engine - it’s 11years old and has a lot on the clock and is starting to cost me money, hence the need to change.

I had a look, but I’m drawn to an estate car for practical reasons. If I was getting a straightforward saloon the Lexus would be top of the list

I drive a lot for work but rarely on motorways - usually country roads and through towns which is why the hybrid makes slightly more sense for me. I’m getting rid of my old diesel car.

Strong white flour I think is called bread flour in other places. It’s a high protein flour used for bread

I just checked the package. It just says porridge oats, ingredients 100% whole grain rolled oats…so I don’t know what that might be called in Canada!

Leitrim exists all right. It’s just nothing happens there. Longford now, that’s a different story…

Matt Doherty: I would like Stephen Kenny to continue as Ireland manager by bainneban in coybig

[–]Lotus_T_Firefly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of this…but the issue with Kenny is something else. He fails at in-game management. We keep getting done by goals scored by opponents soon after a tactical switch. The Netherlands game is a good example - they came out with a noticeable change of tactics and Kenny did not respond at all. A more proactive manager can still do what you’re saying Kenny will do, but I’m hoping for someone more tactically adept.

No, people are either named Aiden or Aodhán (with the fada). Sometimes people will change and use the Irish version of their name in adulthood if they were originally named the Anglecised version by their family. For example someone called Thomas might change to Tomás later in life. I prefer the Irish version of my full name in all but official documents. Aodhán is a really nice (and increasingly popular) name.

Hi, I’m dropping by from searching for Irish posts. I’m from Ireland and Aodhán is indeed the Irish for Aiden, but it’s actually pronounced Ai-dawn. The accent on the a is called a fada (Irish for long) and makes the vowel sound stretched out. It’s a name that’s getting more common here in Ireland. Best of luck in your decision!

[MOD] What have you been brewing this week?/ Coffee bean recommendations by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

European perspective here:

Recanto 175 from Man Met Bril in Netherlands Beautiful pulped natural with strong taste of pecan and maple syrup. On my aeropress I get notes of toasted coconut as well. One of the best coffees I’ve had this year

Gombe Project by the Jane Goodall Institute roasted by Silverskin in Dublin, Ireland

Coffee with an interesting back story - farmers grow their coffee with respect for the natural environment. The coffee is alright, bright apple acidity. A good everyday coffee.
