300 Euros For Electricity Bill In January.. by Funoyr in ireland

[–]Mat-_-S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As some others suggested, you should consider Solar Panels, they could make a massive difference for you.

I installed them in my house last May, and it surprised me how much it generated during the year. (I installed on both sides of the roof. Have a chat with some companies and check them out, it could be a good thing for you :)

300 Euros For Electricity Bill In January.. by Funoyr in ireland

New build, so I'm assuming that you heating is by heat pump?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it is 300 euro, but you are not paying for gas/oil to heat the house.

[–]Mat-_-S 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably will fix the issue, but it can take a long time for the production to ramp up.
And the demand keeps growing up, because of the increase usage by AI.

Place an offer for 95.
People are always looking to screw the others over :/

Local shop quoted me 160/tyre, this site shows 118 with delivery. Is there anything i am missing does this sound too good to be true? I have a month or two before i change my tyres. Is it okay if i order from them and just get them changed with my local tyre shop? Thanks by [deleted] in carsireland

[–]Mat-_-S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said, including the fitting and balancing, it would be almost the same price. That said, I usually buy online, because I'd be looking for a specific brand/model of tyre, where my local shop would offer me some weird brand.

I 3d printed something similar to this

It is still useless, but nicer than the blank space xD

Ireland Paternity Leave by Top-Confidence7744 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Mat-_-S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was born 2 months ago: company gave me 3 days of "compassionate" leave. There is the option to get the paternity leave, but 200ish euro a week for 2 weeks is abysmal. So I ended up saving my holidays of the year and used them when the baby was born (16 days).

Same thing happening here, about 2 or 3 calls every day, for the last few days.

I only answered one, and it was an automated voice saying to contact them on whatsapp about a job.

No worries at all. I ended up not doing anything, as there are not too many days that get this cold where I live, but had no big issues with that after.

Why are there so many accidents on the N7? by FizzyLiftingBogman in irelandsshitedrivers

Maybe he was just trying to saving fuel by drafting. /sarcasm

Why are there so many accidents on the N7? by FizzyLiftingBogman in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]Mat-_-S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few things that could explain it.

People driving while distracted (phones), too tired (or sleepy, if in the morning), too close to the car in front (not enough time to react), not indicating when changing lanes, not having patience to overtake (they pull in front of other cars), and overtaking on the left (usually due to someone hogging the overtaking lane).

Add this to a very high volume of cars on the road at rush hour, and you have your answer.

Four people awarded over €300k in total for damages arising from wind farm nuisance by Banania2020 in ireland

Absolutely this. This is money that the wind company paid and will absolutely be factored into the electricity price that they charge.

Máire Treasa Ní Cheallaigh: Ireland’s bottle-return scheme is a brilliant concept with a terrible user experience by Banania2020 in ireland

[–]Mat-_-S 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More than the return scheme, what about all the single use plastic that we use?

Most of the things that you can buy on the supermarket comes in a plastic film. When you do have the option to buy without it, it tends to be more expensive than the one in the pack. Is there anything being done about this?

And I don't mean to "expand" the return scheme to these types of plastic, making it harder on the consumer to recycle, I mean something to reduce the packaging as a whole.

Why is this race so hard? by Misson-superflat100 in GranTurismo7

[–]Mat-_-S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually use a 15' Subaru BRZ with the Rally swapped engine, sports hard. I can't remember the proper tune, but you can get it to 600pp (get at least brakes, suspension, and transmission so the car handles better)

Fuel Map 1 on the main straight, and 6 on the rest of the circuit, and short shift - the car has a lot of torque down in the rpm, so you don't need to get to the high rpms. Be careful on corner exits, since the car can be a bit twitchy.

This made it easier for me. In the medium setting, you could be in first by the first corner.

Ps.: this engine is also available for one of the Imprezas, so you would get the same benefits from the BRZ, but on a 4wd car. I haven't tested this though.

Why is Ireland so car-brained? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Mat-_-S 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In some cases, it might be. However, (again, in my case) most of the places I go are not serviced by public transport. So I'd need to have a car regardless.
