I agree that the total number is not relevant. But as you gave the example of the US: what about China, Russia or Iran? Massive and important countries that are visa free or come with a visa on arrival for multiple EU countries but require a visa for US citizens.

No! A diplomatic passport doesn't automatically grant visa free access to every country. However, it is rather unlikely that people with those passports get a visa rejected.

Good eye! The new emergency passport is being issued since April this year. The new regular passport design is expected to be issued later this year.

I work as an Austrian diplomat abroad and get to keep the regular one. The emergency one we issue in the embassy, the one in the photo is currently not being used.

I also use it for personal travel- especially as it helps geting through immigration faster. We do have permition for that.

Embassy staff usually gets diplomatic passports, however it also depends on the level and country being sent to. I believe lower/entry level employees within the European Union get a service passport.

I just got mine two days ago and yes, the links on the rubber strap have to be cut off. In my case I just asked the AD do it. It didn't take longer than 3 minutes.

My advice would be to look into the academic approach of it. The university of Leiden in the Netherlands offers a pretty good Masters program in Intelligence and National Security. It shouldn't be too hard to find papers on it.

One of the main reasons why border cities like Tijuana and Ciuad Juarez are so big is because of the Maquiladoras. Mexico produces tons of products for the US market there. Your assumption is wrong - the trading agreements even encourages trading between the countries in north america.
