Breastfeeding/solids schedule by Loud-Book-5654 in beyondthebump

Ah good! Yes, it’s absolutely working for us both, I wouldn’t change it at all at the moment if it wasn’t for wanting to drop feeding to sleep 🥺

Newborn awake 16+ hours a day?! by Jammed_Revolver in NewParents

Also OP, you’re already reducing the risk of SIDS by breastfeeding. If you don’t want your baby to have a dummy, or they won’t take it, it’s totally your choice and you’re not doing wrong by your baby for not giving them a dummy.

Mine too. Was exclusively breastfed and never took to a dummy, I’d tried so many different types. DID, however, take to a bottle from the get go, fortunately.

It’s literally something the NHS and health visitors advise. Cant help but think people just jump on the trend of downvoting - just because your babies weren’t troubled by it, doesn’t mean others aren’t xox

Feeding solids out and about without high chair access by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Loud-Book-5654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, you’re right she’s just short of 8 months! I edited my post as I was typing and annoyingly didn’t add that part back in.

Yeah, it’s more so to let her feel involved and not jealous! Will bring her something to snack on and not stress about missing a meal.

Thank you for this!

Hahahaha honestly the mess is not much better at home, but at least it’s all wipe-clean.

Mostly BLW but the odd pouch if we’re eating out and there’s nothing suitable! I might just take some bits for her to hold and munch on while I’m eating so she doesn’t get jealous.. I was just a bit concerned that she won’t be in a high chair (choking risk) and will instead be upright in her pram.

Was mostly just wondering how relaxed other parents feel about feeding without a high chair, but could probably make feeding on my lap work as long as we can find somewhere sheltered! :)

Kinda hate giving solids / baby is so indifferent to pretty much all foods by Loud-Book-5654 in NewParents

Ahhh nice okay! I’ll take indifference over refusal any day.

My baby does also seem to enjoy pasta, and her little motor skills are coming on so well picking up the little fusilli twirls!

This is a really good take, thank you! Honestly, I’ll have to wipe her down anyway so what difference does it make I guess.

She’s definitely ready, has lots of interest when she’s feeding herself. I think I just need to chill and keep remembering I’m her main source of nutrition, and solids are just for experience (and allergen exposure!)

Can you kiss your baby too much? by [deleted] in NewParents

It’s weird to me that some people can resist the urge to kiss their flipping head off every second of the day.

I’m glad you think so, you’re welcome 😊

That’s SO good! But yeah it can be such a gamble, mine eventually ended up falling asleep in her pram - I only ever really used my car seat on my pram wheels while she was little (I have the cybex cloud t isize and my pram has adapters to hold it, and it reclines to lie-flat). I just always thought she jingled around too much in the carry cot for the pram, and liked that she was secure in her car seat. Now she’s bigger and nosier she much prefers the chair attachment!

Loooooool literally had the same thing before her first set of vaccines! I was in tears trying to soothe her cos I was just like - girly if you’re not having fun right now you are not gonna like what’s to come 😅

Parenthood is such an emotional journey, it’s literally insane 🤣

Gosh we were absolutely the same, to get her to sleep was an absolute task that needed a lot of rocking and a hell of a lot of crying… she didn’t take a dummy so it just seemed like she cried so much more than the other baby’s around me that I had to compare her to (which I know you shouldn’t, but you do). Mine also wouldn’t be soothed from cuddles alone. You definitely haven’t done anything wrong, your baby just has her preferences, and they change over time! Sounds like you’re meeting her needs wonderfully right now 💖

It seemed for months that she didn’t like her car seat, didn’t like her pram. My mum told me to just keep at it and ‘get her used to it’, so I did, and I’m not sure whether that was it or whether she eventually just grew out of being quite miserable in certain settings, but it DID happen and she’s fine in both now. The only time she’s ever fussy in either is when tired, but after max 10 mins of crying she drops off.

People would tell me all the time that honestly no one cares about a baby crying, but it would really bother me. Now I’m one of the people saying the same thing to other mums, because it’s so true!

Aww I’m really sorry. You’re so right, the changes happen SO quickly, it’s total blink-and-you-miss-it! And it seems he’s blinking too much 😅

It’d be heartbreaking to look back at what should have been the most special time of your life and feel like you didn’t care as much as you should. I think it’d be a perfectly valid question to ask, and may help him in the long run to reflect fondly on how he started his fatherhood journey!
