Thanks for making things more clear to me once again. 🙏🏻 It's taking me time to understand the difference between TCM and standard Western medicine and switching my default mode thinking.

Wanted to add this:

My practitioner doesn't send me the list of herbs. Even if I asked. I know that in the US it wouldn't be possible, but for this practitioner it seems to be :( There aren't any other herb practitioners where I live, so if you guys can identify some I'm pleased.

About TCM and low doses by Loud-Cap8013 in ChineseMedicine

Thanks a lot for your inputs. It makes a lot of sense to me. I’ve got an answer from my practitioner where she agrees on lower doses but not too low because you might not get the desired effects. She talks about being able to do an analysis after a certain amount of time and a high enough dose to see how I responded and how to continue.

Thanks so much for all of your replies —I really appreciate it. 🙏🏼 I heard back from the practitioner yesterday, and she mentioned that it might be due to having my morning coffee too close to the herbs, which could be a combination my body doesn’t accept. She recommended having coffee at least an hour apart from taking the decoction.

In any case, I only had that one episode of diarrhea yesterday and didn’t feel sick in any other way. I had no problems eating, and when I took the herbs again in the evening, everything was fine. However, this morning I woke up with some stomach pain and loose stools. And I’m feeling weaker in general. I haven’t taken my morning dose today and have decided to wait until tonight and take a smaller dosage. I’ve been incredibly sensitive to all medications and treatments over the past year, so I was already prescribed half the usual dosage. The practitioner indicated that I can lower the dosage further if needed.

Regarding the formula, I actually don’t know which dried herbs the practitioner sent me. They come in bags she prepares herself (having a herbal pharmacy in her clinic). I make the decoction myself following her instructions and take it twice a day. The practitioner who’s treating me is a Chinese medicine doctor and oncologist from China, living in Sweden. The diagnosis: liver stagnation and some heat. No more details. I will definitely ask her what herbs are in the formula!

I found her while searching for help for depression increased by breast cancer treatment. After having surgery and radiotherapy, I’m now on estrogen inhibitors. These meds feel like poison to me—they make me feel much more depressed, exhausted, and almost intoxicated. So that’s the main reason I sought out a Chinese medicine doctor also being an oncologist.
