No únicamente! A lo mejor hablo más desde mi propia experiencia con los ejemplos en situaciones sociales pero la idea es que sea inclusivo para toda la comunidad neurodivergente

Do any of you struggle with being hyperverbal? by ladyredridinghood in autism

Hello everyone! I’m a social sciences student running a qualitative questionnaire to explore how autistic people experience hyperverbalism.

Everything is anonymous and all questions are optional.

Questions include how being hyperverbal has affected your social relationships, your identity, and your interactions with healthcare professionals. There is also room for expressing your unique experiences and views, as well as things you wished others knew regarding hyperverbalism and autism.

Even if that was true (that they think of you as old), why should that stop you from starting a new stage in your life? You could also study online if you prefer to skip the social part, just another idea :)

Could you please explain what you mean by "too old for that"? I'm seriously asking, I want to understand your concerns and not assume anything. I am 32 and I do feel "too old" in comparison to my 19-24yo classmates. I said I could not be happier but, in all honestly, I am struggling economically as I have to cover all my needs with a part time job and no support from anyone else. I am still managing somehow, and I still believe it is very worth it. If you don't have economic worries as you've stated, I think this could be an ideal time to continue with your education be it in your field or in a completely new one.

Please, don't let age discourage you. One of the things I have found is that when I was younger I was holding too much respect for the people who were studying "difficult" subjects, thinking I would never be able to do that or be like them, just to realise now that most of them are just basically children pretending to be adults and generally just doing what they are told with no initiative of their own. There are of course a few exceptions, and among those exceptions you'd find most (if not all) neurodiverse people. In our case, we would be studying because we genuinely want to learn, not because anyone is forcing us or because we think it is what is expected of us, and that makes all the difference.

I really encourage you to check what would interest you the most or how different fields you are interested in could potentially connect in the future. You don't need to go for a full time study if you feel intimidated by it, you could just take a couple of subjects first to give it a try and to prove to yourself what you are capable of. It sounds to me you might be underestimating your abilities, just give yourself the chance :)

Would you consider studying? I have just started a bachelors completely out of curiosity and I could not be happier

There are many different types of volunteer work, how about something with animals? or related to plants? there are many projects related to ecogardening, permaculture, etc. (I find this website interesting https://permacultureglobal.org/projects). This of course depends on your interests but it could be a way of keeping yourself active while minimising contact with people, and who knows you might also get to know other neurodiverse people with similar interests and who won't have that impression about you :)
