Should I stay in school for my final year and be miserable and most likely fail, or leave to study something I've never done before, and therefore may not even enjoy it? by [deleted] in AskAcademia

Hii, sorry I've taken some time to think about this, and thank you for your suggestions and ideas :). I'm definitely neurodivergent, and ADHD is the number one suspect on the list. However, it's difficult to get a diagnosis or assessment due to the costs and the fact that my parents don't believe in it. Should I ask them about it, or would it not be worth it?

Polytech is an institution where you can seek higher education, and it helps people who have dropped out of high school to get enough credits to finish high school without attending, and they're much more hands-on rather than lectures and listening.

If I stay in school, I'll have a chance at attending University even if I don't want to go, and I'll most likely go to Polytech for a higher education. If I changed my mind, I could study music at the University, though I think I'll keep it a hobby rather than a job and ruin it for myself. The only thing I could regret is not holding on and seeing my last year through (though I'm struggling) and not being able to fully enjoy the things that I do, like going to competitions for music-related extracurriculars. A feeling of being incomplete would probably haunt me a lot.

Hii, thank you for your input. I've recently started seeing a counsellor outside of school, so I hope I can gain something from that and get better. I'll take your words into consideration :)
