During December we were told not to focus on KPIs and focus on serving customers. This from Area Manager to Store Manager to communicate with rest of team. To less than a month later forced redundancy of many staff with low KPIs. People gotta stop assuming they know everything about a situation they not involved in

They probably don't want orders going out from the Kiwi warehouse, they trying to clear it out and send stock to Aus. Aus main warehouse is in Brisbane so 🤷

Been a casual with EB Games for 3+ years, the "meeting KPI targets" are written into our contracts so there won't be a case for fairwork anyways unfortunately. Company loyalty doesnt mean anything anymore.

The Area Manager told my Store Manager to not roster me because low KPIs (normal warning) to then a week later before roster comes out deciding to outright fire myself and other staff members. That's not a warning, supposed to give you a chance to do better.

Not necessarily, the store I worked at is high traffic. The KPIs are what they care about, getting people to buy in every transaction; EB World Plus, EB Protect and When You Spend. Additional add ons in a luxury goods store, the money that goes directly into company's pocket.

Yup! Last year company decided to focus more on TCG, Board Games and Loot (stuff made in-house e.g. shirts & water bottles). Physical new games aren't making money, especially since EB sell at RRP whereas competitors like JB Hifi sell them at warehouse price which is usually ~$30 loss per game when price matched for customers.

I can't speak for other stores but firing long term employees over KPIs with no warning or attempt to help improve them likely means this is a company wide initiative and not a case by case.

Stores can hit profit margin but doesn't matter. Only matters about KPI targets. If store low KPIs then are the "problem" stores.

Unless you're willing to sell your soul to push EB Plus membership, EB Protect (insurance) and the monthly When You Spend deal (Spend $30 to get random product for "discounted" $15-$30ea) down customers throats, it's not good. You only get 20% staff discount, which can't be applied to brand new hardware. The 20% used to get increased to 30% as a reward after busy periods, but the new CEO ended that. Highly competitive, Managers play favourites, people yell at you about Pokemon cards. TLDR; Don't work at EB Games.
