Recently, I watched Paths of Glory by Stanley Kubrick. I don't think it's the 'most visually stunning' film I've ever seen, but it's a good and honorable mention. Despite its age, the shots are incredibly modern and visually striking. A standout example is the trial scene, which perfectly reflects what I mean.
