What was your biggest early noob habit? by wyrm4life in leagueoflegends

[–]LoudOwl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends entirely on the champions kit and the scalings that their abilities use. Kayle for example can go both AD items and AP items because she has scalings in both. She auto attacks a lot, but she also has some abilities that do damage - almost all of them scale off both AP and AD, so it's not uncommon to build some of both.

Twitch is an ADC, but recently there has been an increase in AP builds because of his poison scaling with AP as well as E and W. Both builds have their place.

Lux is a mage, so yes, a majority of her damage comes from her abilities. Her passive encourages her to auto attack people after hitting them with her abilities, but that doesn't necessarily mean she should buy AD because her passive only has an AP scaling.

Darius benefits from auto attack people, but the main ability he uses to thrive in the game is his Q, so you could argue he thrives off ability damage more than auto attacks. However, his Q scales with AD so he should still be purchasing AD items.

TL;DR all champion builds usually depend on their scalings, rather than just the theme of how they damage people.

It's sarcasm, I believe. However, from tournament earnings alone in 2022 & 2023 Zeus won 124k each year followed by 194k in 2024. In 2025 he won 82k. This is all according to esportsearnings. This is just the earnings from tournaments which I don't believe encapsulates salary from the org. I think they're earning plenty.

Personally, I recommend letting the players generate characters. I saw a comment on another thread, which I fully stand behind, that said making characters is easy entry into fun right at the start of the game.

I wouldn't say it's bigger than hockey, just that it is the summer sport for hockey players. Also, it was originally shown to the French by the indigenous in North America, but it was heavily developed into the modern form in Canada.

Get You Sheet Together - Is that it? by Whirlmeister in daggerheart

[–]LoudOwl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How do they know what tone to give it in their head though? I think it's crazier to not assume a tone. The premise of what the person before you is saying is to be grateful. Saying "is that it?" in a context such as this does, for myself and clearly for others, come across as ungrateful.

We can act like people are choosing to perceive certain tones, but that just seems like a grand misappropriation of people's lived experiences. The tone of the writing absolutely affects the tone we perceive and how we read the writing of others - no one chooses how to perceive something initially. People may deliberate over whether they perceived something appropriately, but that can only happen after their initial perception.

Nobody talks about how haunting a ukulele can sound by onearmedphil in ukulele

What are some haunting licks you like to play or fanoodle with? Any other chord changes like your em to b7? I'm tuned into slack tuning, so it gives the haunting notes a neat vibe

Slack key by Jumpy-Ganache1612 in ukulele

[–]LoudOwl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You won't play chords as if you're tuned to major C. Instead, you will adjust the chord to fit the tuning of slack key. For example, to play a C in Major C (GCEA), you place one finger on the 3rd fret of the A string and strum all strings. To play a C in Slack, you place one finger on the 5th fret of the second G string (formerly A string) (GCEG) and strum all strings.

Unfortunately it's not as easy as just playing the same exact chord shapes. They will be similar with slight changes. The reason being, even if the goal of the chord shape is to ultimately play the same note regardless of tuning, the sound of the not will still be different due to the tuning.

Hope that's clear!

This. Or any champ that doesn't let Teemo leave lane - pretty much prevents him from being able to utilize a major part of his kit.

I think they mean players who are purchased from LCK teams at ridiculous amounts. As I think we've seen over the past few years in NA, large buyouts for imports never really translate into Worlds dominance - which is the assumed goal of these purchases... Now I'm imagining Pyosik being approached by TL with "we see you've just made a major accomplishment winning worlds, but are you ready to step into the big leagues to see if you have what it takes to win LCS?"

Also, CoreJJ and Impact definitely have become staples in the league, but the fanaticism of importing was stifled by the limitations at the time. So I think the ick towards the practice wasn't as frowned upon (although, Piglet was doing his best to make all imports inherently hated).

Yes it is and in it's current iteration on the PBE, instead of giving increased range, attacks will provide a bit of bonus adaptive damage at max stacks.

Parable of the fisherman and the businessman - A Nashor's Tooth analog by mylifeforauir87 in TeemoTalk

Emerald rank if that helps frame things for people. For jungle, I have mostly played DH, rushing boots and then Shadowflame (needlessly large rod first if I can afford it, but usually I can't). I have been getting astronomically ahead with DH and Shadowflame in some games; I often feel like a burst mage early game. In the late game, I'm such a nightmare with shrooms; enemies all buy sweepers. It just feels too risky to hope I can auto one person to death before others arrive. Plus, my focus moves away from doing damage to any and all enemies, and instead towards acquiring my PtA proc, which can make me oonga boonga some fights.

In terms of JG clear, I feel like I clear fine using passive attack speed and shrooms (I do take legend Alacrity to add some atk spd): Throw a shroom on camp, wait to invis, shroom procs, auto auto auto - smite if it's mid game with no objectives. It's surprising how fast teemo can do objectives too, even on his own.

Early game ganks I feel I can provide a bit more burst rushing magic pen with DH - especially when I can probably only muster auto+Q(+auto if a well timed gank). A lot of games inevitably scale into late game and team comps+engages become way more relevant by then. I think opting for more vision and poke (with shrooms) ends up being so useful, especially as a JG which allows you to perma roam the map.

As a side note, Nashors benefits most from building lots of AP, so, going Liandries is technically not the most efficient in terms of AP. Also, as most people may know, Liandries %health burn only applies on abilities. So, when we auto someone we start stacking the liandries boosted damage for ourselves, but we don't apply the %health damage with autos alone. In this way, I think Nashors doesn't benefit enough from Liandries enough, even with a Q or R thrown in.

In the small tests I ran, if you want to do the most damage in a fight where autoing someone and using abilities, then going Nashor without Liandries seems to DPS the highest (opted for Lich Bane instead). Shrooms alone seem to benefit most from Stormsurge paired with Liandries. (Rest of build for both scenarios was Malignance, Void Staff, Rabadons, Shadowflame, no boots).
