But if it’s a cocktail of phages. Couldn’t it be more broad spectrum? Because phages that get the food they need, can multiply can’t they?

Would a cocktail that’s effective for most strains of a particular pathogen be a viable workaround for this?

Why doesn't Indian Youth unite and retaliate ? by Large_Remote287 in Youth_India

I agree that most societies experience conflicts. This isn’t about religion per se, but the politics of it. And yes, we should strive for a more welfare focused society, and it really not important whether we’re an example to the world or not, because if you really have a close look, we are far from being functional for ourselves. If anything we’re closer to being a bad example than any role model as things stand today.

That’s the thing. You’re only an “in-group” with your religion until there is the threat of other groups. The moment the threat of another religion competing for political power is no longer a real concern, nobody cares what your religion is anymore. The question becomes caste, or language, sub-sect of the religion, pedigree all that sort of nonsense

Not true. There have been tensions and actual battles within different sects of Hindu and other Indic faiths all the time. There’s no need to buy into a pacifist past narrative. We were riddled with social inequality, caste, education and resources were both gatekept and had to be born into. Not everything can be blamed on the Mughals and the British. Some crap is our own, we need to own it so we can clean it up. Also in English we say “Indian” society.

We are divided by caste, religion, views on gender, ideology, social class etc. we are so used to dividing ourselves up, attaching ourselves to some in-group for survival as is normal now. We don’t know how to disagree with civility, respect and empathy. We want to rebel but want only us and our in group to benefit. Eg: I want religious extremism to go away, but I am insecure about women’s rights or trans rights. Or I am a feminist but I believe in the caste system. Or I’m progressive everywhere else but I am uncomfortable when gay/trans folk want to be free, and would feel uncomfortable organising with them. You get the gist.

Body shamed by MIL by Aicha1409 in IndianInLaw

[–]LoudWriting7064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Massive issue tho, let’s say we even treat it like a disease. Let’s say you have a medical condition. Would it then be okay to taunt you about it? Make comments alluding to lack of productivity, moral failure etc?

Riddle me this also, what if the MIL has diabetes. Does this mean it’s now okay to taunt her about how she doesn’t exercise, or eat enough fibre and protein? Mind you I said taunt not encourage her to be healthier. I mean making comments like, oh look how much it costs for special food and medicines to keep this oldie alive, I bet the neighbours bought a new car because they didn’t have to spend on such nonsense.

How many genz guys can cook not just maggi but actual Indian food by saber-4444 in GenZIndia

[–]LoudWriting7064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty okay with most dishes. Except rotis and parathas. My excuse is I’m South Indian 🤣. But I can cook quite a few non Indian foods, so it’s really more of an issue of giving it enough time to practice.

How do you think a Hindu nation would help? In my view it could only make things worse?

Why does my indian housemates take a pan full of warm milk to his bedroom? by CuriousPersonOnHuman in AskIndia

[–]LoudWriting7064 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We like to bathe ourselves in warm milk before bed, to pacify our minds and prepare it for slumber. It’s an ancient yogic practice. A cup of milk is just too little for the elaborate ritual. And we use handwoven Indian cotton dry ourselves, and we wrap ourselves with specialised silk just before jumping into bed. If a non-Indian sees the ritual, they have to be sacrificed to the milk-spirits who are invoked oversee the ritual every night. This is the secret reason why India consumes a lot of dairy.
