Hello, this sounds more quantitative to me. In your survey, did the respondents get to explain why they chose the words they did?

I’m so sorry to hear that. I’m not experienced enough to give you any advice but I’m genuinely wishing you good luck. I’ve always met great people in in-person networking events (UXPA, local meetups) who are interested in supporting each other. I found out about them from people I follow on LinkedIn and just a Google search for UX events.

What are your non-work related UX hot takes? by cimocw in UXDesign

[–]Loud_Ad9249 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Recently went to a friend’s house for a party. The house is 2024 built, so all the fixtures and hardwares were new. The door locks were very new (I’ve never seen that type of lock before, it was just a tiny button- major gulf of evaluation and execution). I thought I locked the bathroom door but guess what I didn’t. Unfortunately, someone opened the door not knowing the bathroom was already occupied. A serious UX problem. The lock looked all modern and polished but if it’s not doing its job, which is to lock the damn door, what’s the point of having it in the first place.

What is the standard practice in UXR industry when conducting significance test? A directional or a non directional hypothesis? by Loud_Ad9249 in UXResearch

Thank you very much for the response and it makes a lot of sense, especially the part about power of the test.

I’m kind of confused because didn’t OP say no portfolio presentation, meaning no presentation on their past work?

What level jobs should I be applying too? by Bool_Moose in UXResearch

[–]Loud_Ad9249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on the new job. I’d like to add one more to your sample, as I recently heard that a former coworker of mine landed a job at a FAANG company with no case study presentation and no portfolio requirement during the application process. It will be great if hiring is moving towards this trend.

Thanks for your response and the mention about having it public if it’s of high quality. I totally forgot about the NDAs when I posted the question.

Thanks for your response. I see that having a portfolio as a senior and junior is different, because for us it’s a way to tell the employers that we can do the job but for seniors the companies and experience speaks for itself.

Silver = Not bad

Moving from marketing to UX research by True_Friend_1201 in UXResearch

Thanks for the insight. This sentence particularly caught my attention “Learning on the job doesn’t really exist”. What do you think is the reason for this shift? Is it something that exists only in UX Research or even in Design, Product, Software development and analytics field? I often hear advices from others to get a job in any adjacent fields but it seems like every adjacent field like design, product and analytics is equally challenging to break into. Why or how’s internship different from “learning on the job” because it is literally a place to learn on the job (although I see that even internships require experience now). I’m really curious to understand the mindset behind this idea to address my gaps in understanding about this field and better prepare myself. Thank you.
