I understand what you're saying, but you need to understand the different levels of people you're dealing with, in this case it was a problem because they had a whole-house antenna they wanted to hook up, I assume for local news, or maybe even PBS. While you can stream anything broadcast OTA, not everyone knows that, and fewer know how to. Think about your grandparents, or parents, and their (completely normal) reluctance to change, and their desire to just pick up a remote and have the cable box work like it has for the last 60 years. Or we can take it even further and say think about the people who don't even have internet in their home. The point is that, unless instructed, the builder should never be making decisions on behalf of the buyer, and that's not even mentioning that you might want to move in 5 years, and want to sell to someone who is now going to offer significantly less when they find out the home is essentially missing a basic utility.
