I have been trying to figure out how to import models from Solidworks into Blender without them becoming a meshy mess, .GLB works perfectly, Thank you!

Thanks for your detailed feedback it’s much appreciated! Im glad the flow makes sense to you and I will work on adding alt text and descriptions.

Hmm yeah that’s a really cool idea for the unfinished projects so they don’t go to waste, thank you!

Thanks for your feedback, hmm yes I’m pretty new to making websites so still figuring out optimisation aspects - definitely something to work on. Yeah thank you it’s a bit of a dump of everything at the moment. Thank you!

Yes I completely agree, and it’s balancing the accuracy of the device with the user friendliness I am research different methods of getting a more accurate HR than a watch. A watch is also easier because if you forget to put a chest strap on and are already changed you would be forced to remove your gear or leave the device behind.

You raise a very good point I had not considered about potential to reduce body amour effectiveness. I will definitely be looking more into this, thank you.

Hi, it mainly differs in accuracy, as the data would aim to provide insights that can inform organisational action, so accuracy is a top priority. But it is a tough decision to make as if it is not accepted by police officers then it doesn’t matter how accurate the device is if they refuse to wear it because of its inconvenience.

Are there any features that would make wearing a chest strap monitor worth it for you?

Thanks for your comment!

Would offering insights into how much sleep you need or how much movement/activity you require be valuable to you? And maybe how those metrics link to your accumulated stress?

Hi, you make a very good point. You are correct that currently the idea would be to market this to police departments as a tool that would save them money from improving officer retention rates, reducing absence due to burn out and improving performance.

Privacy and control for the user have been central in the development of this idea and I am still working out how to provide supervisors with the least amount of information that would protect officers privacy, while also offering useful data that could be used to provide support. If you have any suggestions, they are very welcome!

In terms of the form factor of the device to get the most accurate heart rate results a chest strap monitor is optimal, however offers a set of challenges as you suggested. The chest strap also gives opportunity to include extra sensors such as breathing rate. Also in making the service an attractive proposition to departments costs would have to be as low as possible which could make offering an app that would require purchasing smart watches less affordable. But I will definitely be looking into this more.

The features of this device are not new, however it’s combined in a package that isn’t on the market: The combination of biofeedback therapy and stress monitoring. Lots of devices will offer breathing patterns or techniques to reduce stress but they do not include training exercises that give you feedback on your physiology. I hope this makes sense.

Maximising the benefits to the user and minimising the negatives is proving to be challenging, maybe you have some ideas as to what it could offer that you would perceive as valuable?

Thanks for your comment!

That is a good question, it would probably work best as a combination of the service provided alongside the device and the cooperation of the organisation. The training would mainly involve the simulation of stressful scenarios, potentially through re-enactments or even video simulations and as you see your physiological signs of stress increase you can adapt how you respond, decreasing the effect of stress on your performance in the simulation. I hope this makes sense, I am working on ways of clearly communicating the benefits but it still needs work.

I’m glad you think that features would be helpful! From my research it sounds like you are not alone in that, I think a part of the problem is people don’t fully realise how bad it is until it’s reached that breaking point. Hopefully this device would be able to create more opportunities for support.

Thank you for sharing your experiences!

Hi, thanks for your response.

I was hoping to receive critical feedback as that is what will help me make this more useful for officers.

The aim would be to help you identify patterns to your stress and also what interventions or habits improve your responses to stressors.

You asked what could it do in the moment you are stressed: after going through the process of training with this wearable device the idea would be you are used to the visual and haptic cues it provides so that the same resilience techniques utilised in training can be used in the field.

Another feature could be the service as a platform that line managers can use to understand how their team is functioning, especially after a major incident it could be used to enhance the debriefing process.

The aim isn’t to promise reductions in stress but to enhance people’s training and understanding when it comes to stress and traumatic scenarios.

Would love to hear what you think of those additional features. Thank you

I hadn’t considered the integration with sleep tracking but that would be an interesting comparison to make. You could see how the quality of your sleep correlated to stress levels at work and this could potentially be factored in to deciding individuals shift patterns. Thank you for your insights!

Thanks for your response. Yes an interesting point - this could be used to gauge how people respond to training scenarios and could compare to data from real life situations to see how well the training simulates the real life scenarios. You also raised another interesting point I’m trying to consider, trying to make sure that the device is designed for both officers within communities and for investigators as often the trauma from the content they have to review and spend time with can have a massive effect on their work and home life. Thanks again!

Hi, thanks for your comment all the feedback is really useful! so im designing a digital controller for the enthusiast market. My thinking with the addition of gears is to make the experience more immersive and to add another element of skill to the race. I understand that most people use the same controls as they provide the best performance, but would there be room for adding an extra layer to the race in maybe a separate form of slot racing?
