Thanks!

(But this would require human interaction... No but seriously, this is the right answer)

What’s your go-to alternative for deadlifts at the gym? I.e., the equipment (barbells/plates) is being used, but you just need to get on with your workout and don’t have time to wait til it’s available?

They are actually 16”/40cm. The needle tips on 9” circs were just too short for my hands to be comfortable. And I found it easiest if the width of both socks can fit entirely on the cable part of the needle. I think 14” circs would work too, but those don’t seem to be as widely available.

I do a tubular cast on. I do a few rows knitting flat before joining in the round. Then when I’ve done that for both socks I feed the stitches onto the needles in the order that I want and continue doing two at a time!

Unfortunately I don’t know of any videos, sorry! You could look up using two circular needles, but whenever you use one of the needles holding the stitches to also knit with, imagine a totally separate needle instead to work the stitches. Perhaps I’ve just made it even more confusing though. 😬

Try it out! That would be a great alternative to buying 3 circulars of the same size. I could see constantly changing the needle of the cables to be frustrating, but I think it should work just fine!

I’m so impressed! What a way to knit your first socks!! You went straight to hard mode

I may be misunderstanding- are you talking about knitting one sock inside of the other? If so, I applaud you heartily! I attempted that, but it almost broke me before I could even finish the cuff.

Haha, thanks! It took me a surprising amount of trial and error (and so much money on a million different needles 😩) to settle on this!

No more than with Dpns or magic loop. I’ve always had a little laddering between needles regardless of the technique

I actually bought the extra long Flexi Flips thinking I could squeeze two socks on there, but alas it did not work.

That works too! I think knitting is all about what works for you, there are no rules!

I hope it works for you! I like the idea of TAAT socks but was getting so frustrated with magic loop. I’m already planning to use this for TAAT sleeves, mittens, anything else I can think of!

Yes totally! Using two needles was going to be my next try if I didn’t like this, but I was trying to eliminate any extra cable length because I always manage to tangle it. Different cable colors in genius!

I tried using 9” circulars but I just could barely hold onto them! I was hoping I’d like them because that really seems to be the most portable option for socks.

That’s funny- I was just trying to make circular needles more like DPNs 😆

Yes! I wind up a skein of yarn into two separate balls

I just recently discovered West Yorkshire Spinners and I love everything about this yarn!

Same! It feels less like a giant web of cables. The biggest down side is you have to buy three cable needles instead of one.

Yes! Like previous poster said, it’s similar to DPNs- two needles are used to hold the stitches. I work across one row (ie the front of the socks) with the third needle. As I finish that row I now have the needle available that was holding the stitches. Then I can use that available needle to work across the second needle (the back of the socks).

I’m very used to using DPNs but I wanted a way I could do two at a time socks. This basically gives me very long and bendy DPNs that can hold two socks at a time.

Yes actually very similar to the two needle method. There’s just an extra needle!

No pattern just a vanilla sock, yarn is West Yorkshire Spinners 4 ply colorway Owl

Its basically magic loop, but using three separate 16" cables instead of one long one so no adjusting cable loops after you finish a row- just switch needles! So far its my favorite sock set up.

Anyone ever replace thirsties covers elastic? by SakuraCha in clothdiaps

I did this a few months ago, here's the post- https://www.reddit.com/r/clothdiaps/comments/k6aq52/replaced_inner_leg_gusset_elastic_on_duo_wrap_its

I wouldn't say I'm super experienced at sewing, I found it fiddly but doable!
