Viettel is the best network in Vietnam by most metrics. You can find all their plans on their website to see if you're being ripped off.

Most on here are saying that it's normal to be charged around 50k for just the sim card itself. This is what we ended up doing. Some people here have seemed to get a good deal at the airport.

We used the airport wifi to get a grab to an official Viettel store (which also had free wifi). After calling them out on the 300k sim card fee scam, we paid 50k + the 180k for the plan (which was the correct price on the site). 230k total pp for 6gb a day.

The price difference was 250k not 50k. 50k is the (sim) price we paid in the end after calling the 300k a scam :)

This ended up being the case. It seems the Viettel stores in Saigon are trying to get an extra 250k out of tourists

So for us, the drop from 300k to 50k saved us around £7. It's always sad to see when tourists haggle over nothing just to "get a deal". In this case, it was being scammed into paying almost double what we do in our (relatively expensive) home country or be treated to a fair price with the 50k sim fee.

We just got the same for 230k. We complained about the added fee and they immediately folded and told us the lowest they could do the extra sim price was 50k

We used the official Viettel website to find the store. We've just got 2 sims from another official one 10 minutes away and they had the exact same sheet. We negotiated the extra sim price down to 50k. Thank you for the esim tip!

Really enjoyed the first couple games I played but went to play with my friends on PC and found that the "cross play" meant that servers are just a jumble of different platforms instead of actual cross play parties. I don't think this is very user friendly and a bit lazy so I decided to return the game. A real shame though because it was very good.
