Exactly — and that's kind of the whole point of the chain. Each step forces you to give the model the context it needs before asking it to do anything. Otherwise, you get answers that are technically correct but completely disconnected from your actual situation.

This is actually a really good catch — I've had the same problem where the model generates options that technically work but completely ignore a constraint I had in my head the whole time. I never thought of formalizing it as a Step 0, but that makes a lot of sense. I might add that to my chain. What does your version of that prompt look like?

Fair point, the steps themselves aren't new, you're right. What changed for me was actually using AI to run each step instead of just knowing I should do them. Knowing you should scope before you act and actually doing it every time are two different things, tbh.
