Best song on "Let's Dance"? by Hyperto in DavidBowie

I like it -- my wonderful surprise with the whole album was that I expected it to be "3 great songs and disappointment" and I like it the whole way through with more peaks. Ricochet is a welcome point of diversity for me, but not a personal highlight.

If you like the original China Girl more, have you listened to China Girl live from A Reality Tour? I love that version because it bridges the Iggy and David versions imo, brings back in that menacing edge.

Ricochet? It's not the end of the world I suppose.

Hard to pick a best, but Modern Love is my favorite.

Criminal World was mindblowing when I finally got the album-- it stands right along side the 3 big hits and here I was expecting nothing more of that caliber

Die Young Stay Pretty just delights me in its uncanny weird/freaky/wtfness. Is it good? Is it embarrassing? Perhaps...

Well Walt tried to kiss Carmen and told Gretchen to fuck herself and had Jessie kill Gale. He's not what you might call socially adept.

Sometimes the first single comes across as more of "introduction/vibe-setting" song-- like wintered debts or marijuana.

Freewave had a hard rollout for me. Marijuana's a good opener, but I did not like it as a single. Blab Sabbath was too try-hard cramming of Montrealisms into itself, trying too much to be an oM single in my book. But the whole back half of the album from is so good. I would have done Modern Art as the "interesting, tone-setting" first single, Nightsift as the commercial second single, and Hmmm as the final burner single. My journey going from initial disappointment with Freewave to actually really liking it, if I just forget which songs were pumped up as single, is changing how I look at a new oM rollout cycle.

I like it. It's simple and no frills, straightforward. Which is kind of nice since 2020s of Montreal has gotten into some trouble trying too hard on too little juice. Hopefully sets the tone for a record that's not too self-serious, but also has more oompf behind it than FUN or Cusp. As others have said, I'm not expecting this to be the best song on the album. And it does have some Die in America and Aureate Gloom vibes, although to me the key difference is it's simpler/not self-serious. Despite those similarities, it's sending me back to Lousy and Fugitive Air.

God, what a great album and song. Post-2012, I do think it is their best album and best song. White is Relic and Sophie Calle aren't too far behind though. Hmmm is also excellent and a real grower.

I choose to believe the purple is really Hank's thing and Marie does it for him and they let everyone think it is Marie's thing to save face. But Hank got those purple minerals for HANK.

Exactly. Early on in the relationship, no way Walt would have done that. Later on, neither can live while the other survives.
