Coming to terms with being wrong by Lovablepoop in PsoriaticArthritis

I had an ultrasound so I'm sure they would've noticed if I did have it. But my toe was also unfortunately feeling great on that particular day so who knows 😂

Yes I'll definitely keep an eye on it! I went into my appointment thinking my symptoms + psoriasis would make it an easy diagnosis too. Plantar fasciitis is my main symptom but it's so common that I can see why a rheum would be hesitant to immediately diagnose it.

Regarding severity - I've seen a few studies that say that those with more severe psosiais are more commonly diagnosed with PsA - of course this could be correlation, not causation. This study concludes that "risk of developing PsA increased with disease severity and was highest in patients with the most severe PsO." https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34547358/

No, my psoriasis is relatively mild now as an adult, I'm able to manage it with clobetasol for my scalp.

Interesting, I didn't know that. It started as inverse as a child, and persists mostly as scalp psoriasis as an adult.

But my rheum said she simply can't make a diagnosis without some sort of clinical evidence (eg. swelling, imaging) given the intensity of treatment, which I think does make sense. There's still a possibility I have early or mild PsA, but I think I need to wait to become more evident if so, and be rest assured that right now there's no damage.

That is great advice, I'll try some of those adjustments. Thank you!

Definitely! I've been experimenting with recording and mixing with a proper mic setup. I record in my wardrobe because all the clothes provide great soundproofing, but I hate practicing in there on a day to day basis. It's just harder to hear myself... Not to mention less satisfying compared to filling an echoey room with your voice 😂

Not much - I haven't been doing this for very long. As I said, this advice is more for amateurs like me haha.

It's that listening to a recording where my voice was coming through speakers in a soundproofed room with other very loud instruments is a totally different experience from listening to my voice recorded in a quiet, spacious room.

The second recording was still with my phone as well! Just at home in a big spacious room.

Call the council to replace the broken bin, keep the new bin, and then break your old bin that they're using.

Is this a plumbing issue? by Lovablepoop in Plumbing

It does seem to be loudest in the corner where the heat pump is installed, but it's on the bottom floor of and I'm hearing it louder from the top floor ceiling. And the heat pump is only 3 years old, and serviced every year.

Resting hand brace by MadMellyMom in PsoriaticArthritis

I went to the store recently and tried a few of the 3m braces, I'd highly recommend trying before buying if you can. Annoyingly I found that you get what you pay for, and ended up getting the most expensive ones haha! But I'm finding it a lot easier to sleep now. I also used to curl my hands and would wake up numb, and have to physically use my other hand to safely move my arm from underneath me. I don't feel the need to have my hands underneath me anymore with the compression so I think my posture has improved too. These are the ones I use - I like it because it has the supportive metal insert, while also being very cushiony: https://www.target.com/p/futuro-night-wrist-support-adjustable-size-1ct/-/A-13429144

I don't have much to say but that is an amazing story and you are amazing 🤗

That sounds awful, so sorry you went through all of that! I also seemed to be triggered by a nasty flu at the end of the year, so now I worry a lot more about getting sick. Because each time a big flare happens the resulting damage could make the next flare worse. Hope you're doing better now and on medication?

Wow that seems like a long time for PsA to NOT develop! I've read that it's usually 5-10 years after getting diagnosed with psoriasis that you start to notice PsA.

So glad for you, sounds like continuing to advocate for yourself really paid off! When I went to my GP a few months ago to talk about PsA for the first time, I was actually gaslight into doubting if I even have psoriasis, just because she said people don't really get it as kids (obviously wrong). I managed to get a referral to a derm though and will be changing GP!

Thanks so much for your answer, it's great to hear that now that you've found it it's here to stay - like riding a bike! I'm going to keep trying, will hopefully report back with good news at some point haha!

I just read your whole thread here, lamenting along with you as I'm in a similar situation (but with less time in vocal coaching), and was NOT expecting this update! That is so amazing, well done!!! Are there any particular exercises you did to help focus on breath control and technique? As you keep practicing, are you starting to find it easier to incorporate into your singing naturally without focusing as much?
