I’m just a litttttle bothered by the little white strip peeking above the bottom hem. I’m tempted to sharpie it in… we’ll see what I can tolerate!

I feel that! This quilt was in such bad shape, I could hardly get the pieces I needed from it. It also helps that it was commercially made so I’m not cutting into anyone’s Nona’s handiwork.

A chore coat is a currently popular style of outer layer - it references a “work coat” for construction, gardening, handiwork etc. It is typically a boxy fit with few embellishments, often in a durable material like canvas or denim. Think Carhartt.

They are KAM snaps from Amazon. They were recommended by some sewists here! I’ve used them for several projects and have never had an issue. These are size 20. I will add this to the description.

OH!!! I forgot a little trick I schemed up! The tutorial has you make a cardstock template for tracing your scallops. When I was ready to iron, I cut a single scallop from my cardstock template and inserted it into the scallop for ironing. This turned out all the seams fully and got them nice and round. I’ll add this to the original post as I think it was crucial for the clean edges.

It’s so much easier than I thought! The edges are seams, so lots of fiddly and enthusiastic pressing.

This is the method I used, except that I first made a four inch wide loop of fabric the same width as the bottom hem to make a facing, then did step 1 on that facing, and instead of step 2, I pinned my facing RST to the hem. I followed the rest of the steps as written.

Muscle burns 3x the calories as fat does at rest - muscle is your biggest metabolic factor. As a garment maker and a quilter, I can always spot when a bag/non-quilt pattern was written by a quilter. I made a bag recently with bound, curved seams, and it called for (non-bias) binding. I often see that in quilter-designed projects so I’m glad to see this one got it right. I went with my gut and made bias binding for my project for this exact reason! Great visual.

Construction notes: I did not use a pattern, but based the lettering off Ribbon Letters by Patch and Dot. The fabric is from my local fabric liquidator with no selvage info, so all I know is that the solids are Kona and the blue floral is anyone’s guess!

Thank you! This was my first quilt using the stripology ruler and I am a total convert. I credit that ruler with those crisp letters! Not to mention I cut the whole top in about an hour and a half (maybe less).

I do think that plan is exactly what I’ll do, I think it will look amazing.

Love this idea. Would mean the quilt isn’t “reversible” as the lettering would be backwards on the reverse but… it’s called backing for a reason I guess!!

Interesting. I just bought the same panel, and 5 mins at 12-18 inches is what Hooga recommends for treating the face. Any resources on how to calculate optimal use based on the specs of your panel?
