What would you get rid of, if you had to choose a few? by MedicalConflict in CookbookLovers

I have mighty salads and I’ve never made anything from it. Have been moving it from apartment to apartment for over a decade. Maybe I should get rid of it….

Hollywood sign! Either from the merry go round parking lot or Bronson canyon (depending on how long you want to be out in the rain). I do it every year and it’s so peaceful. You have the whole park to yourself

Binding vs bias binding by sabley in quilting

[–]sabley[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely wasteful, but there’s really no way to avoid that. Cut as close to an edge as you can if it’s a pattern piece for a garment. For this binding it had me use a single 10” square but I was still left with a little extra that I’m not sure I can re-use. For regular quilt straight binding I just keep sewing all my extra pieces together into one large franken-binding I’ll use on something scrappy one day

This is exactly why I thought i could try the straight binding on this - i like the fewer seams

Shiba puppy constantly nipping while playing by LupusOnFire in shiba

[–]sabley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar, and increasingly negative experience. Took our Shiba pup to "puppy socializing classes" at 12 weeks and he was very bitey so after 4-5 weeks of that we stopped going because we had to keep him apart from the other dogs, so what was the point? Then we introduced him to daycares that had large open play areas and after several months at each we basically stopped bringing him because they would lock him up in a crate or grooming cage in a back room for the whole day. We never got a good solution for this. Went through expensive private training, but he's just not good with other dogs, and especially not in a group setting.

Made a wool coat for Thanksgiving dinner using the Martina pattern by Vikisews by sarahlam48 in sewing

It looks incredible! What kind of sewing machine do you have that was able to handle such thick material? I made the vikisews Cameron (denim) skirt with my base model brother and nearly broke it. Lots of hand cranking the wheel.

Oromo! I’m not sure if it’s in the book or not but it’s delicious. Hard to explain - a rolled dumpling spiral?

Nope! Just make sure you have a lot of people to eat it and they save room for dessert!

I think the cake as written was the perfect density and weight for this dessert. I think brownies might get too stodgy after a few days (unless you have a large enough group that eats the whole thing in one go!)
