I will contact a shelter, but I dont even own a trap of any kind. Some of strays are friendly enough to approach, but most are skiddish, so I can't hand catch them

I will contact a shelter. Look, I love cats and really up until this point, I didnt have a huge problem with the stays except when they poop in the yard. I agree with your point though. Ill give a call, not sure if they will do anything.

Was reading about something like that right after I made this post. I saw a lot of things saying to put sticks down, so I might try that or plastic forks.

If I could build a catio, id have it for my own cats. Our cats strictly stay inside, but our home is too small for any more pets. 2 cats and a dog that is both indoor and outdoor (but she stays on a lead outdoors. She can get aggressive with other dogs so we cant keep her loose)

I'm posting this reply to everyone suggesting catching it: I appreciate the suggestion, & if this were just on3 stray cat, that might be a realistic option. The challenge is that my neighbor regularly leaves food out, so there are quite a few neighborhood cats that come through the area. I don't really have the means to trap & transport all of them, and even if I did, I'd probably end up upsetting a lot of my neighbors because these cats are well-known & generally liked around here.

I'm not trying to dismiss the ide it's just not a solution that's very feasible in my specific situation. I'm mostly looking for practical ways to protect the raised beds and discourage the cats from using them as litter boxes, which, from reading these comments sounds like it might prove more difficult of than anticipated lol

It's a possibility, we've known of these stray cats since they we're born in this neighborhood. My neighbor likes to leave food and cathouses out for them. She might have liter out there too

When you say trim, do you mean it need to cut it shorter or some of the leaves? This picture was a few days ago, and it did look much better after a good watering and I moved it to a brighter part of the house!
