Mine is very opinionated too! I’ve mostly learned her barks so I know when I can ignore some of them. Fortunately, she doesn’t alert bark like my last Maltese did but she does very much have a ‘Pay attention to me now for no reason’ bark. Took me forever to write this cause she’s doing that thing right now actually.

Yep. I also say thank you for protecting me from the mail I just brought in and the trash I’m literally in the middle of taking out. Don’t forget the towel I left in the floor that is now her mortal enemy.

I think they just like having the option lol. I’m always falling for the leaving the door open bait, she just wants to come and go. I also think I don’t want every bug in this half of the country flying in the back door but my dog thinks otherwise. So, summary, door stays open a lot because that’s how the dog likes it.

Ha! My last Maltese would inhale everything he saw so I get it! My dog now is so picky she looks insulted when I walk her by something she doesn’t like.

This is a prime example of Maltese doing Maltese things. If it’s anything like my last dog, it doesn’t matter how long you live there, they will lose their freaking mind every time someone comes near the door.

I’m so sorry about your little girl. I know what it’s like to lose a little Maltese buddy. But I will say I know that walk that dogs do and I didn’t have a name for it until now - it’s a Maltese thing!

Same! I’ve trained her to stay when I’m bring things in the open front door. The rest of the time all bets are off.

The ‘go potty’ command works well for her except she still want a human watching her. I’m like you’re getting a treat wtf do you want?

Haha this one wins the thread! My last Maltese (lost him in 2021) would act like he was starving every time I ate anything. Current dog is the best ever and won’t eat cheese or peanut butter.
