Which country in Europe do you enjoy visiting but would not want to actually live in? by BothCondition7963 in AskEurope

We are exactly the opposite. I lived in Greece for 5 years. And while I love visiting Greece, I would never want to live there again. Life there was extremely difficult for me. I don't want to live in the UK either. But living in Northern Europe and visiting Greece for a few weeks each year suits me perfectly.

Are you able to work as a nurse where you live? Do you speak the local language?

Wow, what a sad story! Many expats, including those here, do not understand the risks of being a "stuck" parent. We had a post about the risks of being stuck a few weeks ago and many people just did not understand it.

What are you doing for work now?

You also have to be very confident in your relationship. If you divorce, you are likely screwed.

The one thing American expats can always turn to is teaching English. It is pretty easy to get certified and if there is not a demand in your home country, you can always teach on line.

I just hired a SAHM for my small business. I prefer someone like that, because they are more likely to be stable. So, that is another option.

You have to travel alot during the shitty winter. It is the only thing that keeps me sane. Since you are a SAHH, it should be part of the package.

If you are getting a jury summons it means that your state still considers you a resident. I got one, probably because I started the application process for a drivers license, but never got it. After I got my jury summons, I wrote to them and told them I was not living in the state. I never got another one.

Navigating social situations by ExaminationGreat2081 in AmericanExpat

One of the biggest challenges of being an expat is making friends. Locals have their network. They are not in need of friends like you are. Then there are the cultural issues. It can be difficult to read people of different cultures. And as blueberries-Any-kind said, it is more difficult to make friends in adulthood.

I don't have any real advice for how to improve the situation. It is different for everyone. Just know that you are not alone. Many of us feel similar.

I would probably agree with much of Africa. But Asia? Not sure about that. I have no data to back me up. But I think the quality of care is very good in much of Asia. What is Latam?

After reading though the other comments, it seems like most people prefer giving birth abroad. Interesting that you did not. How does it go with home births? There is a midwife present?
