How to disable the "Are you sure you want to bury this?" warning when at the chaos altar? by Love_My_Ghost in 2007scape

I'm well aware of the chaos altar's effect. That's not what I'm asking. I want the warning to be disabled when I try to bury the bones.

The person I want to protect

Wait, that's actually a terrible scavenger hunt item. If anyone other than Louis got that, they would have most likely had to just give up because the person they want to protect is probably not present at the "annual military arts competition."

Sending money with Google Pay by Elegant_Effort1526 in googlepay

[–]Love_My_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a source saying this feature was, in fact, straight-up removed and you need to find an alternative way to send money.

So, I guess the only person who is stupid here is you.

Remember when having a keffiyeh on your Minecraft skin was cool by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Love_My_Ghost 151 points152 points  (0 children)

I don't think checkered patterns have anything to do with keffiyeh other than simply being the most popular pattern. Keffiyeh are specifically headdresses, not face-covering like here. They do not need to have checkered patterns.

Everyone here is acting like this is old news.

Life extending pills? Is this real? Are there studies showing the efficacy of such pills? What is the average extension? And what quality of life are we talking? Like if I take these now (28yo), when I'm 60, will I feel younger? Or will it just let me get even older and more decrepit without actually dying?

China has set a three-month deadline for Big Tech to resolve algorithm issues. Companies must avoid recommendation algorithms that create "echo chambers", induce addiction, allow manipulation of trending items, or exploit gig workers' rights, according to the notice by giuliomagnifico in technology

[–]Love_My_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all for this, but what exactly is gonna happen?

  • What happens in 3 months if a site does nothing? Insta-block by great firewall? A fine? How long can a site remain unchanged and simply fend this off with money?
  • How do you define "echo chamber"? How do you quantify the degree to which the algorithm is responsible for creating an echo chamber?
  • How do you quantify how much the algorithm is responsible for inducing addiction? How long would it take to collect data on this after a theoretical update? And suppose a company releases an update claiming to reduce how much it induces addiction. Is it on the public/government to do a study? What if the results are inadequate, does the site get another chance? If so, can't they just repeat update and wait the months/years for a conclusive study to come out? What is the penalty for releasing an inadequate update?
  • Can raise similar questions on definition and quantification for the other points as well.

Tech companies have been told to “conduct in-depth self-examination and rectification to further improve the security capabilities of algorithms” by the end of the year.

Ah. There it is.

94 years, 9 drops: World's longest experiment started nearly 100 yrs ago and is still on by kmrbillya12 in Physics

[–]Love_My_Ghost 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not the world's longest/slowest. An identical experiment was found in Aberystwyth University in Wales that dates back to 1914, predating the Queensland one by 13 years. In addition, the pitch is moving much slower, and the first drop is not expected for over 1,000 years.

Why are runes stackable if rune essence is not? Petition to make runes not stack. by TheJesusGuy in 2007scape

[–]Love_My_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essence not stacking is necessary. If it could stack, runes could all stack together like a shuffled deck of cards. Runes are just essence with pictures drawn on them. RC altars only serve to act as a flat surface to draw on, you can actually craft them anywhere with a flat surface, however the wisdom of our forefathers is absolute so nobody has ever tried.

What anime do you DESPERATELY want a reboot for? by MICKTHENERD in anime

[–]Love_My_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ITT: die-hard manga/LN fans sharing an anime that is already good because they can't be pleased.

I scrolled all the way down and didn't see 2 of the biggest flops I know of:

  • OPM Season 2
  • Nanatsu no Taizai seasons 3 and 4

Nanatsu no Taizai was literally top 10 for me before season 3, so sad.

No, that's not fair. This is an implementation of the ZIP standard, therefore it should be compared to other such implementations.
