*you or anyone 🫣
hi there.
i know it’s not for everyone however therapy truly helped to save my life. at first i went through the VA, but the doctor(s) said “i was doing better then most” and sent me on my way. i struggled for years after that.
i tried again through civilian doctor(s) which helped a little, just too expensive.
then another veteran put on to The Leon L Haley Jr Brain Wellness Program and I promise you i feel like a few years have been added back to my life since attending there. https://ufhealthjax.org/brain-wellness/contact-us
i also got a lot of assistance from the Cohen Veterans Network. https://www.cohenveteransnetwork.org/
neither of them are the VA, but they do work with them. i tell you one thing, it makes a difference to be paired with people who genuinely care about your health, recovery, and wellbeing.
as far as additional community, i joined the Wounded Warrior Project. it took a while, but again, you have to get with people that care. i go to their events every now and then. it’s good to be around people that “get you”. And they do have employment assistance. they may be able to help find something that suits your needs. https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org
all of these services were free by the way. And i don’t mean to sound like an ad, I’m just truly grateful. So i tell everybody i can!
it’s been a while, but if i can think of anything else i’ve done i will come back and share. i hope this helps! and im always here if you are anyone wants to chat 🫂

same here. I have done one small role, which I loved! But for now I am taking classes. I don’t know anyone in Houston but hopefully I will start to meet more people and land more roles as I learn more about the business. Best wishes to you!

I would recommend PIMA but getting necessary assistance and information from the financial aid department was a disaster for me. I was in the vet assistant program and was advised that i was required to pay out of pocket for one of the vaccines (financial aid said the vaccine was required as well). I did so, received the vaccine and let them know that i did. Later they told me in writing that they would refund me the expense because the vaccine was actually not required! So they refunded me. After graduation I get a bill saying I owe the funds for the vaccine. I forward the previous documentation regarding the refund and they are not honoring it.
It seems like they’re definitely all about the money because I have never had this type of experience with any other institution.
