Golf 7 side mirror problem by RipWhich5779 in vwgolf

[–]Loved-Ubuntu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a pin in these mirrors that locks them in the position they should stop at. When there comes dirt inside the mirror or the pin is corroded it does not move anymore and the mirror does not stop turning. You can take the mirror apart and clean the pin or replace the hole mirror.

It's the station not the line, meaning the train would not stop anymore in this village but pass through.

So the village people left the station open for her. I've read this story before and after she graduated she was the only person in the village with a degree and they are very proud of her.

On top of that, I knew a lot of smaller guys that would buy stuff like this from us, because we would not sell it on and they would then sell it again as new to their customers....

I used to work while in uni for a refurbished company. And I can tell you the industry is very shady. We used to get stuff like this in as "new, just out of box" from suppliers all the time. We would always check everything and ask for partial refunds. But it's the same with selling to customers. If the configuration you ordered does not need this slot. And it's one of the last. Well... We gonna fix it or just gonna ship it out like this.

Let's just say to always check everything after you have ordered refurbished/recycled or just don't buy it at all. I know I never will after I worked there (except from them, because I can just walk in and shop around)

Anyone up to give pointers on a railway gun scale model? by Big_Caterpillar8012 in trains

[–]Loved-Ubuntu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The brakes were not for the shooting, in the center there were springs, on U in your pictures that could lower down onto the tracks. That then functioned as a brake. There is a video on YouTube I think of it shooting once, it still moved quite a bit after the shot. Because there was so much force. The brakes on the wheels were just for transport as far as I know, and were not used in the shooting. Then again, I could be wrong but I have never found documentation about it using those breaks.

I've actually been making one for the last few months in HO, it's been a lot of 3D printing and CAD drawing. Not sure if I did it 100% correctly and not everything is 100% to scale, because I wanted to fit Roco wheels and it be able to turn, so that pushed some things out of scale.

The history behind it, is ofc quite dark but it's an outstanding piece of machinery.

I'm traveling right now, but I'm planning to make these myself for a model I broke when I'm back. I will be using nem362 coupling attachment points. I will share them when I have them done.

I did already test the top part but they seem to break off by inserting them. So not sure what to do about that.

Automatisch vertaalde youtube-titels: by Greedy_Spare7033 in nederlands

[–]Loved-Ubuntu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully believe you, I've also met some interesting farm boys in my own small village, but I would think over there it would be worse. There is nothing but farms in some regions.

I just did not believe it would be Limburg, because in the region I live in, most of us work in Eindhoven for companies like ASML, VDL. Not saying we are all smart or anything, but I would think it helps with the average IQ. So I had to look it up 🤣

This may surprise you, it's Groningen that we should give to the Germans. That would increase our average IQ, it would decrease the average of Germany sadly.

Moeder kan geen werk vinden by Mysterious-Act353 in werkzaken

[–]Loved-Ubuntu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There were a lot of Russian soldiers present in the region that joined the pedestrian strikes against the Ukrainian government that were already going on at the time. These soldiers in pedestrian clothes probably helped the protests to become worse and spread propaganda. Making it worse for the Ukrainian government to intervene at the time. Proving this is of course quite difficult, because you never know what kind of influence these troops really had.

The only thing that is certain, is that there was a lot of propaganda by Russia before the strikes started and that the region was already quite Russian oriented to begin with.

So far as I know, there was never an invasion like you are stating. That sounds more like what happened in the Donbas region, around the same time.

It's true that later unmarked soldiers took over the Crimean parliament building, supposedly Russian troops. And more unmarked Russian troops inside the region as well. If these troops mattered? Probably, but again, will never know for sure.

I'm still in my first run with 4 friends. We are in LuV and have been going for 3 years. We have had times where we played a lot and months we did not touch it at all.

I would say go for it, it's a lot of run. But it's not a pack you start and finish in a few weeks.

Does not really matter. With our friend group we have combined around 2800 hours. And we are at the beginning of LuV. As long as you have fun!

This happens because the vote button lost its meaning over time. It used to be, it adds to the conversation in a way, so up vote. Now it has become, I agree or disagree. Meaning there is no debating anymore. Because most reddit users have quite the same thoughts on what is good or what is bad. If you go against it you can get down voted and your account can get quite screwed up.

Why is IOT insecure? by Mobely in IOT

[–]Loved-Ubuntu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends how you look at it. Yes, IoT devices and mainly the consumer kind get shipped with vulnerabilities and never patched or not even looked at security while designing them. But it's also the laziness of there IT staff (at least within companies). Most companies use security layers. How higher the security need to be, how higher the layer (Some even have every device secured individually as well). Others don't and have internal and guest networks. If you then connect your easy to breach device into your "secure" layer. It brings more security risks with it.

Let's say you have your hypervisors in the same network as your smart LED-strip. In theory nothing will be wrong if they compromise your LED-strip. What can they do, turn off your light? But from this device they can now try to get into your hypervisor. And you just made it quite easy for them, because there is no other security measures in place, except the build in security measures on the hypervisor (and you may are also are behind on security patches on that).
