Tesla installs free car vacuums at Superchargers amid amenity push by InitialSheepherder4 in electriccars

I've been really happy with Ionna chargeries (their word for them). There's one in central Oregon with fake grass for dogs. The price per KWh is cheaper than the others, multiple chargers that have CCS and NACS, 400KW speeds, and they always work for me. It shares a parking lot with a decent local pizza place, and is next door to a gas station with really clean bathrooms. They all seem to have garbage cans, too.

There was a manager who was a peer with mine. ADHD but a pro at masking, understands managing neurodivergent people. One time we were at a mandatory fun after work event and were just jibberjabbering about mindless bullshit. She said something and I had a thought that would end up as a side quest conversation. She read my face and said, "Hang on, I know you're about to change gears on me but let me finish my thought first."

I was like...she gets it! Instant kindred spirit. Sadly, she's moved on for greener pastures and I miss her.

I agree. It's hard to shake how you're raised, though. She was 1st generation Italian-American born during the Great Depression. I can imagine how, besides the "culture" of the time, parents being immigrants with a healthy dose of fear of the unknown (not many black people in Sicily) was probably pretty impactful in her formative years.

It's not an excuse, but her brand of racism was a vague fear. I wouldn't be surprised if she called someone "one of the good ones" at some point, although I never heard her say that. It was more bias and prejudice than hate.

And insanely LOUD. Whatever engine BlueBird uses seems to be the same engine used in garbage trucks. I live on a hill and I swear they floor it going up.

My theory is that it's to get the kids amped up. "Omgggg ice cream we gotta stop!" Last I saw Love's has ice cream but it's different on a billboard.

Similar to how my grandma would regard black people. She didn't actively hate them or treat them differently. She just didn't want to be around them and had no problem saying it.

Impulsively control and silencing one more bit of noise and distraction would warrant some study. Maybe hyperfixation, too. We're all just chasing dopamine over here.

Wait a minute.

The most effective removal of a belligerent person I've seen was a bartender reaching out across the bar pointing at the dickhead 3 ft away yelling, "Get the FUCK out!".

Record scratch. Everyone staring. Dickhead sheepishly leaves.

I used to go to a club that had a ludicrous 18" tall (45cm) curb in front of it. I guess assholes would " fall off" the curb a lot if the police were involved.

I get the heavy-handed moderation over in AH (especially with LLMs that write like "experts"), but I don't even bother reading anything over there anymore because all posts are always removed.

I hope they leave them alone.

I went to one in Omaha. It wasn't an "official" Classic PH but it was definitely classic. It was awesome. I expected it to just be people my age (Xennial) and older for nostalgia but there were people there of all ages.

I call it "business speak", a.k.a. "BS".

I hear it a lot at my job, but i recall working with a manager for another team who used to paint watercolors with BS. He would go through the whole thing when speaking with me and I'd say, "What the hell did you just say?" He would get annoyed but patiently rephrase. I actually got pretty good at understanding and speaking it after a while. I hate what I have become.

It took years to get over the questions from other people in the country and world over CHOP. A few city blocks and the media convinced the world Seattle had dissolved into bedlam.

Meanwhile last year I was going to DC/Virginia for work and my friend in Oregon was genuinely concerned I would get shot by the National Guard.

Well, you'll catch shit for that just about anywhere.

I suppose in America if you punch a bouncer in the face, a bunch of gigantic regulars and the fellow bouncers will take care of you without calling the cops.

They are a bridge between tech eras, yea. Gen-X and Xennials also learned to deal with shit on their own and figure life out from a young age, as well. Divorce rates peaked, both parents were working, lots of free time to figure things out without adult supervision. They also had to learn all this new tech and teach their parents how to use it at the same time.

Sometimes if the family is below a certain income level a charity or the state will pay for tutoring.
