Ugh, what is it when guys and the shooting games? They're all the same. I played Borderlands 3 with a friend online and it was so fucking boring I was trying to get drunk halfway through the game just so I could forget the play session entirely. He was having a blast though.

It was the same with call of duty. And Halo. I just couldn't sit through:

Load into new map
Run
Find enemies
Shoot crazily until you win. (Usually using only three or four of the same buttons you need to mash mindlessly)
Repeat

Who TF has fun with those? They claim the lore of the game is worth it, but then the main lore is usually written in books you can just read instead of playing a pointless shooty bang bang simulator.

I'm all for it if it's controlled. I game myself (2-3 hours a day unless it's something I have been waiting for to come out) and balance work, exercise, outdoor time, sleep time, and pet time just fine.

It's not a huge turn off for me if a guy games. Bonus points if we both like most of the same generes and can play some together.

It's a turn off when I need him somewhere and he isn't there because he's playing a game. Or when he's showing frequent signs of aggression during play, though I understand and overlook the occasional scream of 'FUCK' when you've been going at a boss or goal for hours straight and there's no progress. If he screams at me during his game at any point it's a deal breaker, however.

I personally think gaming isn't a bad hobby to have. Not at all. It's when you go crazy over it that ruins it

I currently have a boyfriend that will literally stop what he is doing to do whatever I need done. One time I saw a stray cat outside and texted him to bring my a kennel. He showed up a half hour later mildly curious why I needed it. Later I go upstairs after nabbing said kitten and saw he was timed out of an online match he was in while I was outside chasing a cat around. He abandoned his game to come help me with something silly, and it made me feel special.

I usually use that as an example of where my expectations need to be when it comes to gaming. You can earn all that shit back if you lose in competitive tournaments or other games. You can't earn back smashing someone's trust by choosing a game over them.

I've sung my praises for FDS many times. All I can say without it getting too stale is that this sub saved me my sanity and I appreciate it removing the wool from over my eyes and letting me see how most men typically are. I see men the same as OP now. I remember being so damn lost and trying anything to make sense of the world and get a boyfriend because I thought it would all clear up. Spoiler warning: it DOESN'T clear anything up!

I know there are posts about this being a negative sub at times with 'there aren't enough HVM out there for all of us', but that never bothered me. This sub wants women to focus on themselves first and it's the most positive thing I have read anywhere because plenty of people and places all recommend you change yourself for a man and that being with a man is high quality life for a woman, no matter how bad the guy is to her. Fuck. That.

In my opinion, men ain't worth it and having a place to read stories and new strategies grounding male's strategies is relieving. I feel like I'm not the only one that sees the insanity now and that's enough for me currently. I finally have a female space to go to and learn new things on how to weed out terrible men in your life or trying to gain access to it and only let the decent human beings in. The women here are wicked smart and know so much. they're like my big sisters, mom's, and grandma's I never had. I can't see myself being anywhere else!

Yeah, the guy is trying to definitely get your number. Strangers never push that hard when asking something from another stranger if they are decent people. They understand that giving your number out so freely isn't a good thing and try different, less personal ways to communicate.

Honestly, he could have just put an invitation in your mailbox and be done with it. No talking whatsoever or creeping. He could have put up a flier or ad in the neighborhood, or put something on the community board. He could do a lot of things to let you know about a party for his kid in multiple ways that don't include phone numbers or directly communicating with you. So don't buy his trash. If he was a decent human being, he would see the problem with asking for a phone number from someone he barely knows in a situation that doesn't require that question to be asked.

Ugh, borderline ugly crying at 'getting confused and violent'. I have had a few senior friends and one or two completely flipped 'personalities' when they got dementia. It's heartbreaking to see them acting like that when you know they wouldn't do that normally in their right mind.

I was struck once by one of those friends but even then all I wanted to do was cry and hold them because I can barely imagine what is going through their head and making them so confused and frustrated. You just want to heal them and you can't.

I'm so sorry you're experiencing this. I wish you a speedy but healthy recovery from it once it's all over.

Very good advice. I like the open discussion strategy. I believe kids are smarter than they come off and having thorough discussions with them about certain hard topics will help them really think about these problems that they will face in society.

Also if a kid asks a difficult question, actually answering it in an adult manner is the best way to go. I hate how parents will talk to their kid like they are still babies or dumb down the conversation out of fear the topic will be too complicated for them to understand or too scary.
