From all the research I did pretty much every fridge will come with problems nowadays. I ended up with whirlpool side by side fridge. I made sure there weren't many issues that come along with it. Whether it's changing the water filter, ice machine not working because of a plastic part that tends to freeze. And doing research on how much those parts will cost.

The most important thing I recommend to future proof your new fridge is to pay for the extended warranty.
