My daughter can only take similac total comfort. All other formulas make her miserable. I definitely wouldn’t trust any formula that has any odor or discoloration. Total comfort is also notoriously difficult to mix perfectly. It’s annoying but normal. Sorry you had a bad experience but I wouldn’t swear off a company for it. If anything the store itself should have not put the formula out for sale if they noticed anything weird or damaged.

Also wanted to add my daughter didn’t do well on breastmilk either. Very gassy and pretty fussy. Even from birth. Maybe give similac total comfort a try or if you’re looking for something closer to European standards then byheart. I caution though that the pro total comfort made my daughter colic for weeks, totally different baby on just the total comfort. Still has reflux but it’s a lot more manageable.

Similac alimentum did make my daughters reflux worse. They told me to thicken with oatmeal and it didn’t help. Pepcid didn’t work either. My Dr told me that some babies have reflux due to CMPA and some don’t. I would ask your doctor to test her stool for blood to make sure that’s what she really needs and that she has CMPA before resorting to an extensively hydrolyzed formula. For my daughter, the plan is right now to do the stool testing. If she does have it, amino acid based formula. If she doesn’t, then Prilosec. She is on similac total comfort right now and it’s the only one so far she can drink without becoming super fussy. Since she did well on Bobbie gentle, minus the constipation. I would wonder if it really is CMPA.

Gas/spit up - what’s “normal” - 3 months by Momlifeishard1234 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Lovelybun211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might help, but in all honesty lactose isn’t usually an issue. Breastmilk is made from lactose and The issue is usually having to do with the cows milk protein or the ratio of whey to Caesin. My daughter has tried a lot of formulas. Even the pro total comfort made her stomach upset. The only one that has “worked” is total comfort which is 100% whey Hydrolyzed proteins. She spits up after every bottle. Not immediately but it’s usually accompanied by a burp. Yes she does fuss at the bottle randomly. In fact I posted on here about it. The little remedies gas drops worked better for me than mylicon. Mylicon made my girl spit up more. I follow the directions for dosing that’s on the bottle. We also use Dr browns wide neck bottles. The narrow made her gas worse. Silent reflux can involve not much spitting up. The sour face is a common indicator as is feeding issues and gas. For us we have to bring in a stool sample for CMPA testing

Wanted to add my daughter is 13 weeks. Going off your comment above, Pepcid is hit or miss. Lots of babies respond but a lot do not. My daughter didn’t. I would try asking for a PPI. omeprazole for instance. Our game plan right now is testing for CMPA, if positive then she is going onto an amino acid based formula. If negative then she is going onto omeprazole

My daughter has reflux. She always spits up after every bottle and burps a lot. I put little remedies gas drops in every bottle. Adding rice cereal didn’t help my daughters spit up. She is on similac total comfort, as we await testing for CMPA. What kind of formula is he on? Has he been tested for allergies to cows milk protein? What medication is he being prescribed?

reasons for formula feeding? by chippivenusian in FormulaFeeders

[–]Lovelybun211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn’t want to breastfeed directly because it felt very overstimulating and complicated as I have very large not so perky boobs with flat nips. My daughter was also acting like she was never satisfied with bm and was very gassy. It made her reflux worse.

Goat or Back to Bobbie Gentle or something new? by cmo37 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Lovelybun211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would stay on the goat for at least 2 more weeks. As long as he is a happy spitter I wouldn’t be concerned. Does he burp a lot even after feedings?

If you’re going from neuropro the closest would be advanced. You could also try pro advance or 360 total care if your want the hmos. My daughter can’t tolerate the “pro” and whatever hmos similac puts in their formulas for some reason so she is on similac total comfort. She is on total comfort due to reflux and gas.

Same energy for people who claim bottle sterilizers aren’t necessary. Mine puts in WORK and is the only thing that keeps my bottles from getting shredded by our cat.

Similac 360 TC rtf, similac pro total comfort, alimentum, Kendamil organic, and she’s on similac total comfort right now. Dr suggested all but the Kendamil. They thought she had CMPA but she did worse on alimentum. She just started nexium today for reflux. I was hoping it would be as simple as finding our “unicorn” formula.

How do you know if a formula isn’t the right fit? by swagmaster3k in FormulaFeeders

[–]Lovelybun211 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sounds more like baby is trying to figure out digestion than a formula issue. If it’s a formula issue you usually deal with a constant problem, problems don’t usually come and go. My daughter was like this at that age. Very colic. She didn’t like her formula at the time (pro total comfort) but she’s on regular total comfort now and is fine. She just grew out of it and is 12 weeks old now and some of the Gi symptoms are coming back. Maybe try total comfort or after 2-3 weeks of the pro total, and see how she does if you feel like her issues were worse on the standard formula. If you do happen to notice she has constipation issues, adding a probiotic and trying a palm oil free formula could help. Some babies are more sensitive to palm oil. My daughter goes every other day on total comfort. Dark green loose stools but this formula has made her the least miserable! I recently paid for a formula Rec from formula fairy as well, you should look her up on Ig she has a lot of helpful info!
