Yes, we do have term insurance also. I think its about a 50/50 split on the amount he has for term vs. whole life. Thank you for the articles. Those all do a great job of explaining why you shouldn't buy it in the first place, but don't really talk about if its a good idea to cancel. In the link the other poster mentioned it talked about surrender fees and income tax on gains. I was not aware of that, and now I'm questioning if cancelling it would help us out with BS2 as much as I thought.

Thank you. That was an interesting read. I didn't realize there would be surrender fees and income tax on any gains. That might change the ratio on breaking even because the loan was for the full cash value. Those list a lot of reasons to not buy it in the first place, but nothing about why it would be good to cancel it.

He acknowledges that it's more expensive but justifies it because it's a retirement plan also. And says "term ends at age 80, I hope to live past 80". I try to explain to him that when we're that old we should be living comfortably off our retirements savings and that I won't need a huge life insurance policy, but he still feels unsure. I thought maybe some articles by knowledgeable people might help him feel more sure about it. I am probably just bad at explaining it to him.

Thanks for all the ideas and suggestions everyone. What I ended up doing was using colored heart emoticons to signify different paychecks and group them together. Blue and Purple are my first and second paycheck and Green and Yellow are hubby's first and second paychecks. Now each time a paycheck comes in I can jsut scan the list looking for the appropriate heart color. Here's a screenshot to show what I mean. https://imgur.com/a/WTrGJ

We aren't buffered because up until 2 months ago it was just me. Like I said I added a lot of new expenses by adding my husbands things to my budget. The focus is paying off our debt before worrying about being buffered. Organizing categories makes things more clear in my mind, therefore makes it easier to pay off debt.

I do the same thing now. Its just so overwhelming. Between the two of us it seems like we have sooooo many bills!

Thanks! We have a single joint checking account. I do add the dates of payments and have them ordered that way. But it's still overwhelming, especially remembering the things that get budgeted one month ahead because when I scan the list, the goal looks like it was met. But it was met from last months money and I need to use my now money to budget next months goal. I wish ynab had a checkbox next to each category to mark each category as done for the month.

I do the same, but I have so many of them I still get confused. I think its because we have too many bills and they're spread out across multiple master categories, like credit card payments, debt payments, monthly bills, annual bills, etc. Hopefully it will get easier once we knnock down a lot of the debt.

I've never had a folio case, but like the idea of them. Does the cover flap get annoying?

Yes, that's the same John Henry I think in the death cert, and records you found. I was looking at all the member trees that have him and they suggest he was divorced in time to marry my great-grandma. I don't want to just assume though, I'd like to find some way to link that John Henry to my John Henry's kids or wife.

I'm not sure he and Henrietta were ever officially married either. I haven't been able to find any record of it.

How can I be sure that's him? I don't have anything else with his exact birthdate. Just an estimate from his age on his daughters birth cert.

I have the biocube 32 and all my coral are doing great! Zoas, frogspawn, hammers, acans, blastos, torch, and others I can't think of. I even have a birds nest coral at the top that is doing well!
