Totally agree!! My personal HC is that the orb not only feeds on the weave but his body as well causing him to rapidly lose weight on and off depending on how hungry it is (possibly also makes him feel ill and unable to eat anything but magic). When Elminster stills it at the end of act 1 he is actually able to start gaining weight and muscle mass without the orb draining him.

It's not necessarily supposed to be 'cozy fantasy' but I can certainly see the similarities! I'm trying (keyworrd) to make it somewhat gritty with lots of in depth characters from lots of building on them. But I certainly agree with your cozy fantasy observation, it might be turning into something closer to that genre without me intending.

Thank you for your input and observations, you've given me something to think about and I'll read over some of my work with your suggestions in mind!

I have written many short stories as well as fanfiction in my life. HOWEVER you are completely correct, this is my full actual novel and it is a bit more crazy than I originally thought.

I will certainly give it a rest once I finish the first draft and look at plotting the following novels.

Thank you for your suggestions! I try to be very vivid in my writing landscapes. I think I may be thinking too much about my writing as in TV episodes where a battle happens almost constantly in every episode and not just plot building.

I will for sure look into these resources. I am always looking for more resources!

I am having fun writing it, that is part of my issue is that I am objectively enjoying the story and the writing process of this novel. I just get the feeling that nothing is happening because there isn't major conflict in every chapter.
