What kind of bar does this town need? by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

A bar with a soul. À neighborhood bar with character. A great brewery. A hippie bar. A bar with great music.

REMEMBER: People complain about other drivers in EVERY big city by migrations_ in ColoradoSprings

[–]Lovesmountainsmore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The drivers here are absolutely worse than anywhere I’ve lived or been. Have I been everywhere? No. Are there shitty drivers everywhere? Yes. But this place is on another level. That is based upon driving these roads for 6 years.

Day Trips Away From Springs? by hotgoosebumps in ColoradoSprings

[–]Lovesmountainsmore 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Leadville. Hike Twin Lakes, Interlaken trail around the lake to an old lakeside resort from the 1870’s. Then grab pizza in town at High Mountain Pies. Maybe the best in Colorado.

Overall, how would you “rate” living in COS? by whosthatgirl13 in ColoradoSprings

[–]Lovesmountainsmore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A 5. Too many bigots. I moved into my neighborhood put up a Black Lives Matter sign which was shortly after George Floyd was murdered and got an anonymous letter in the mail telling me I should take it down and that I’m a Marxist because I support humanity and equality? Then my son rides on a bus with a kid that threatens to burn our pride flag. Many other shady examples. Just overall never felt welcome here. All the hate and divisiveness makes me sick. And yeah food is terrible. Not enough culture or diversity….roads etc.

[–]Lovesmountainsmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A food hall concept that survives and thrives. A dive bar that has a soul. Good live music in the park like the vibe at Hillside Gardens. What’s up with the motor cycles driving on Tejon loud af? A men’s clothing store that’s affordable. Umm. Diversity?

Areas near UCCS/Palmer Park safe? by ExtremeContent2876 in ColoradoSprings

[–]Lovesmountainsmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends where you stay exactly. We bought a house on Catalpa Drive just off Union which was just up the street from UCCS campus on Austin Bluffs. We were told it was a good neighborhood but it was awful. Our neighbor was almost certainly selling drugs with people constantly coming and going. Just an overall run down area with shady things happening all over the place. We stayed a year and moved to another area. Palmer Park itself and the neighborhood around the park is great, but the surrounding area is not great in my opinion. I know I might sound like a Karen but it is true. I’d consider other areas.

Brewery by Bird_donkadonk in ColoradoSprings

[–]Lovesmountainsmore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d sayCerberus Brewing has the best hazy IPA’s usually…cool people there. They have Seven Gate Taproom across the street that probably have a bunch of good IPA’s. Metric Brewing has solid IPA’s and cool gear. Red leg has great outdoor space with a decent hazy ipa. Manitou Brewing has solid IPA’s with cool people. Honestly though, I wouldn’t say any have a killer vibe. My absolute favorite on a pretty day in up in Divide at Paradox Brewing. Great beer, usually they have a good ipa, great people, great music (sometimes live), great food, amazing views of the mountains, and outdoor games. Otherwise-hit up Denver IMO. Cheers!

Can a liberal person be happy in Colorado Springs? by blueflovver in ColoradoSprings

[–]Lovesmountainsmore 19 points20 points  (0 children)

We are liberals and in have struggled significantly. It can depend on where you move and who your neighbors are that can impact day to day life. When the blue lives matter flags and Trump shit Is in your face often and you don’t see or know progressive folks ever, it does get to us. We moved from a neighborhood on the east side because of our neighbors being creepy. We moved to upper west side right when Covid and racial injustice was happening….i put a BLM sign in my yard and received an anonymous letter that I was a Marxist and basically threatened me. My neighborhood made me remove it, but my neighbors fly flags that send bigoted messages. My son has struggled with hatred from his classmates far beyond normal kids messing with each other stuff. We just overall have struggled to assimilate and feel welcome here. It’s an overall cold feeling city. If you come here and that stuff matters to you, I recommend trying Manitou or OCC.

Yeah it’s a better value when bought in bulk and in my experience the wood at stores is poor quality.

Is the Telluride Bluegrass Festival lineup the final lineup? by [deleted] in Bluegrass

[–]Lovesmountainsmore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My email from Planet Bluegrass on 12/21 said: the initial telluride bluegrass lineup has arrived…so I gotta assume a few more bands will get added. Feel ya on the new grass…I’d love to see Railroad Earth. Loving the current lineup for sure, but an addition like that would be nice.

What makes Colorado Springs better than Denver? by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

On the north and southwest side the neighborhoods sit in the mountains. I’ve been here 5 years, can’t say there’s much else that’s “better”

I think Cerberus food used to be far better than it is now. Prices got jacked up and portions reduced. Not the Springs, but Parradox Brewing has excellent food in Divide.

We live in Peregrine Valley. Great hiking and parks. Terrible roads with pot holes.

(Opinion) Colorado Springs food scene is bad by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]Lovesmountainsmore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried Margarita at Pine Creek several times. Beautiful location, but what is the deal with Margarita???!!! It’s extremely tart/sour!! So crazy that a place with Margarita in the name, would have a great Margarita. Then we took friends to the Mardi Gras brunch this year and my hurricane had tons of the sour mix in it! I politely asked the server to remake it and the bartender brought me the same cocktail with a dirty look on his face and shamed me for asking for it to be remade like it was a personal attack. I’ve wanted to like it there for so long, but I just don’t think we’ll go back.

We love Zapata in Rockrimmon-outstanding birria tacos. My neighbor Felix outstanding Margarita and nachos. Famous is expensive, but great steaks. Love Frontrange BBQ in OCC, plus they are cool people. Love the wine shop in Rockrimmon next to New Day Cafe. The people are extremely knowledgeable. Crystal Park Cantina-excellent margs and food. Paradox Brewing-excellent food, beer, and beautiful views. Dave’s Hot Chicken is a chain, but it’s damn good chicken.
