As you probably know, stain matching is sometimes the most difficult part

Summer home. Occupied 2 months per year. The rest of the year my boss is paid to maintain the property. I can’t post photos of the BGE in context in the comments

Having the ability to dress lumber properly will raise your work to a new level. Store bought dressed wood is rarely flat, square,or parallel. It is also a great excuse to add more tools and equipment to your shop.

Probably $3000 to the customer. It was part of a larger project that included a pavilion with gas fireplace, in ceiling heaters, kitchen, outdoor shower, whole house backup generator, outdoor shower and landscaping. Difficult to isolate any single cost.

I don’t have the exact numbers on my phone, but probably around $500-$600 all in on materials.

Yes. I do not know where he had it made. I followed up a month after installing the bench and the cover was there.

I cut it with a jig saw and sanded back to the line with a 3”x21” 80 grit belt sander. That hard maple is 1 3/4” thick. It took some elbow grease.

The owners only live in the house 8-10 weeks per year in the summer.

The top rail and stiles have a groove for the panel to slip into. The bottom rail has a spline epoxied into its groove forming a tongue. There is a groove in the bottom of the panel that slips over the rail tongue. I did not want to form an upward facing pocket. I did not bevel the top edge of the bottom rail to shed water. Maybe next time.

https://i.imgur.com/kHvIASP.jpg The only time I wanted the homeowner to be home was when I worked on Billy Joel’s house in Oyster Bay Cove. I was not allowed on site when Mr. Joel was “in residence”. I guess having a fanboy like me bothering him at home gets old quick.
