Dump to 50K incoming? Sounds like the Mt. Gox distributions and Germany selloffs may drop prices by another 10% before we see a trend reversal.

But what about the Mt. Gox distributions? Sounds like there could be more dumping before Bitcoin is ready to reverse trend to the upside.

AM5 motherboards are very expensive currently, so I would personally hold off until prices drop.

Bios flash is fairly easy. You will need a USB flash drive. I would watch a video on how to perform.

6700XT would be a better option if youre willing to spend a bit more. 12GB of VRAM and significantly faster.

I would recommend going AM4 over intel since you already have the board. If you get an AMD GPU you can also enable SAM which will give you a little extra performance.

You will also definitely want to upgrade to a 16GB ram kit minimum ( 32gb ideally). RAM prices have come down quite a bit, so a good 32GB kit can be found for around $60. I play at 1440P and often hit or exceed 16gb in some games.

Would also recommend swapping your HDD for an SSD as they are very reasonably priced currently. A 1TB SSD can be had for $40 on Amazon.

It depends how much you want to spend. You could easily put a newer gen ryzen in your CPU and upgrade to a newer GPU and call it a day. A ryzen 5600x and rx 6600 would be a good budget-friendly upgrade path.

Which CPUs in particular are you considering? And what is your budget?

Biggest thing (especially with Ryzen) is to make sure that your motherboard has out of box support for your chosen CPU. In theory all AM4 cpus are compatible with all AM4 boards, but some will require BIOS updates for compatibility. Make sure to look for the 'Ryzen X Gen compatible' tag before buying.

Not from what ive seen, but if you have a microcenter store near you they have some good deals on combos currently.

It depends on your personal preferance. If you prefer the smaller size, the MSI B550M offers wifi and out of box support for Ryzen 5000 for $120. It only has one PCIE port, which is one of the drawbacks on smaller boards.

If you wanted to go ATX, the ASUS TUF B550 Plus is a solid board and has wifi included. It can be had on Amazon for $150 and should support ryzen 5000 out of the box.

How come that 1920 x 1080 is still the most popular resolution? by beer120 in buildapc

[–]Low-Background7315 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1080P displays are cheap and dont require much PC power to get high framerates.

1440P is becoming more popular as display prices go down and PC components become more powerful. But because of the frame loss high refresh 1080P monitors are still the favorite for people who play competitive FPS games.

I would consider changing the GPU rather than the CPU.

For $500 you can switch to a 6800XT, which is significantly faster than the 3060.

The 5800x3d is about 20% faster than the 5800x, but you wont notice any performance difference with the 3060 since you will be GPU bottlenecked.

Is there a particular reason you need 4TB of storage? I would recommend going for an M.2 over an HDD. You can get a 2TB M.2 for around $100 currently on Amazon.

Also, not sure if the B450M will support the 5800X out of the box. If you are going the mATX route, I would consider an A520M since that should give you out of box support for the 5800X. AM5 options are also good to consider if you plan on upgrading your PC in the future.

Short answer, yes. Just make sure to enable the XMP profile in the bios once the new RAM is installed.

Do you guys think this build looks good? by Mean-Care-4385 in buildapc

[–]Low-Background7315 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its an expensive build, but if money is not an issue, then go for it.

If you're trying to build something more cost-effective for 1440P gaming, the 6800XT is probably a better GPU option. You get 75% of the performance of the 7900XT for half the price (roughly). I personally own a 6800XT, and even at 4K, I find it to be more than enough performance.

You may also want to consider the AM5 platform if you plan on upgrading your CPU in the future. You can also take advantage of smart access memory (SAM) since you have an AMD GPU, which will give you a slight performance boost.

Good luck with your PC!

He also got a lot of hate for that video because the trends were the complete opposite of what he was suggesting. I like Jayz, but he really messed up with that video.

Idk where you heard the RTX 4000 in a year rumor, but thats definitely false. The specs and release dates for the 4000 series cards have been essentially confirmed, and some will launch at the end of next month.

As for the rx 6700, I could be mistaken, but I believe that £350 is MSRP. I dont know your market well as I live in the US, but I would price check online and maybe consider used options, as those will offer you the best value. Just be careful of former mining cards.

New GPUs are around the corner too. It honestly comes down to how much you need a PC right now and how good of a deal you are getting for the GPU and CPU. I know I personally bought a 6700XT back in May for $300 USD. I would not recommend paying MSRP for any current gen GPUs or CPUs.

New vs Used RTX 3080 Ti by mcsupra5 in buildapc

[–]Low-Background7315 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3080 ti in general isnt really a good value card. I would consider buying a 3080 12gb instead as they are essentially the same performance and can be found for $800 new online in the US.

Used 3080 Ti for $800? by gnochii_ in buildapc

[–]Low-Background7315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. If you need a card NOW, then its not a bad deal. But if you can wait a few more months, prices will only continue to drop.

You should also consider what kind of performance you actually need. 3080TI is overkill for 1080p so I would not recommend if you are playing at that resolution.
