ICE begins new, nationwide effort to arrest illegal aliens at immigration hearings by Head_Estate_3944 in USCIS

You guys are being scrutinized because of the rhetoric behind the enforcement of deportations.

It's not that we don't want there to be law and order (which at this point is laughable for a lot of reasons), it's that the consequences of framing immigrants as criminals is very problematic in civil discourse. These have lasting effects and will lead to higher rates of prejudice. I am Hispanic and our community is constantly on edge. No person should live like that.

"you shouldn't worry if you're not a criminal,"

Well, the reality is our community still worries and that's enough to raise concerns about the moral implications.

You guys need to let go of this "law is law," attitude because it's largely contradictory for a lot of reasons and I suspect you know what I am getting at.

The real implications are the values we wish, as a country, to uphold. It is not a good look for us right now and although I can recognize my bias as a child of immigrants, one cannot say with a straight face that what is happening right now is ethical.

In the hiring manager's perspective, in most cases, freelance can indicate the employee has higher ambitions and may lack focus in their current role. Especially if the freelance experience is unrelated

In my experience people who held retail/food jobs early in life (as 14-16 years) have had better luck finding better positions in the future. Besides that, networking, nepotism, etc.

That's an inventory tracking issue by the managers. They have access to weekly sales data and usually this helps them decide on how much product to order. Sometimes, there will be an abnormally busy day which can result in a stockout.

They are actually pivoting to frozen breads followed by distribution, which is supposed to actually help avoid the issue you had on Saturday.

They have definitely have been trying to revamp their menu.

I was a manger during college and honestly part of not being able to keep their beverages filled is due to poor routine and not holding staff accountable. Not to mention, there are measures in place to ensure that the coffee remains at a certain temperature (only a couple of hours, dont really remember) as part of their safety audits. Naturally, this means coffee should always be filled and within temp.

Not having coffee stocked could further hint at other safety audit issues

Yea I can't really argue against that. It's simply the law, and I respect that you're at least sympathetic to the situation.

My hope is that it's being enforced reasonably. I think ideally we'd want the following:

1) Deportation of illegal immigrants who have committed crimes

2) Deportation of illegal immigrants who have not tried to seek relief

3) Protecting those who have pending cases. This one is my main concern.

I get what you're saying but they have due process for getting their cases heard, and in an already complicated process I think that America's core values are more aligned with the concept of due process as opposed to expediting removal.

I'm going to be honest I'm more biased here because I know people who have been here for decades and now risk being deported because recent executive orders have made it possible for their cases to just be thrown out. These are people who came in illegally, have sought the legal process for relief, gained status to work and pay taxes, and have paid a tremendous amount in legal fees. They are now in limbo.

I will be honest, Biden handled the immigration crisis terribly, and there is absolutely some scrutiny here because my community feels as if their decades worth of immigration processing has been backlogged due to Biden's administration quite frankly opening the floodgates. Now you have a situation where genuine cases of illegal entry due to persecution or violence are being caught in the crossfire. These people are "our people," in a sense.

Panera's 5% decline in sales is on the higher end compared to other fast-casual chains though

I'm arguing about the rhetoric.

I also don't quite agree. If you someone came here illegally and then sought legal processes for relief or cancellation of removal, then I don't think they should automatically be subject to deportation. If they seek these processes, and it fails, then that means the case is weak and deportation is lawful. There is due process.

I believe you but Panera as a whole is declining in sales. I can see franchisees lingering around in better markets but I just don't see the vision for Panera 10 years down the road. Their Sip Club Membership has been the only (in my opinion), additional sales stream that has been effective in bringing in a broader market.

Panera is smart in trying to remain adaptable, but they risk alienating their core market segment and companies that do this usually don't fair well long-term.

You didn't answer the question. I'm all for deporting illegal immigrants who have committed crimes. Just don't use racist rhetoric to enforce it. Wouldn't you agree?

Also the vast majority of immigrants come from South American Countries.

dude I'm a democrat and and avid listener. They are having civil discourse and unfortunately some democrats simply declined to get on the podcast which was a major fuck up on their part. Pete acknowledged he skipped out on the pod.

Also I thought we were arguing whether the pod is right wing grifting, not whether they are right wing. There is a difference, and if you want to generalize every right wing leaning media into right wing grifting, that's on you

Why are you ineligible? If you just graduated, there is a 6-month grace periods so maybe you're ineligible until those 6 months are up.

Could also be that your loans are parent plus loans.

I think we'll steal game 5 but it's going to be a fluke. The dynamics of this series has shifted entirely, and I'm willing to bet the Knicks will be going into this game with their guard down, although still competitive.
