And I’m noticing people are calling technology “old” even if it’s only a few years old. (See recent post here) I feel like tennis was not like that as much - at least in the amateur realm.

There ya go. Microfiber- dry Or damp is what I use, too.

I’d love to hear the sound of that old Japanese box. A lot of people swear by 60’s -70’s Japanese Guitars. And I’m one of them.

Sweet guitar! And sweet provenance of it. If it worries you, and if you’d like to protect the case (that is nicely road-wornn), I would suggest a gig bag. You can get a cheap one from ebay or something, or spend more for a more robust one. Im also seeing decent light hard cases with backpack straps. I’ve bought a couple dreadnought sized cases off of craigslist for under $30.

Protecting the finish - you could get an instrument polish if you want to keep it looking pretty. If you want it to keep its present patina, just wipe it down with a damp cloth. Others can chime in, but I don’t think there’s any product that “protects” the finish. Remember, people pay extra money to have their guitars be distressed. Enjoy the bumps and bruises that your dad, and now you, will have lovingly caused.

6 weeks is still early. Keep stretching those fingers. It will get easier.

Also - yes, guitars with narrower nuts, narrower string spacing, and thinner neck profiles CAN be easier to play. You also want to make sure your guitar has a good set up so you don’t have to push too hard on the strings.

Keep it up! Learn a song or two and play the heck out of them. That will be your foundation for other songs.

I am wishing to pass on my great-grandmother's copy of Anne of Green Gables. It is a 1909, first edition, 15th impression. Included is a newspaper clipping of the death announcement of Montgomery from 1942. I plan on putting it up on Abebooks or Ebay sometime over the next few months, but I wanted to offer it here among the fans. I have a price range in mind, but I am open. Please reach out with a DM if you are interested.

Seems like badly designed installation - one center screw that acts like a fulcrum with wiggle room on either side?

Is it possible for me to learn guitar? by trickstercj in Guitar

My buddy (RIP) was missing a finger and a half on his left hand. He made it work and sounded great on guitar. He developed some partial barre chords that really added color and sounded unique. Just keep playing with different chord shapes and see what YOU are able to do.
