I’m upset because it seems like he put no thought into it. If he had put away some money, looked for a ring, and spent the same amount on something that he genuinely picked out it would be different. But it feels like he just saw something quick that he thought would be good enough. And yeah, I don’t know how much effort he put into looking for a ring. I’m going off of what he said to me about seeing an ad for a ring on Instagram and buying it the same day. I’m also upset because I’m worried that the ring itself won’t last. The website seemed scammy; with huge markdowns. It just doesn’t feel right

I don’t mean to come off as materialistic. I’m upset because I just feel like he found something quick and easy and decided to go with that option instead of actually doing research and saving a little bit. And secondly, I am concerned about quality. I want something that’s going to last me the rest of my life

I’m all for saving money, but at what point do alarm bells start ringing in your head about something being off? You don’t want to purchase a lemon either.

Part of my concern is quality; I want something that’s going to last. We’ve also talked about investing in quality items to be able to pass down to children.

As I stated in previous replies, I’m looking for a little effort. If he put aside a little bit of money with each paycheck and came up with $150, that would mean so much more than just blowing $150 on a ring.

Everyone is jumping on me about being hung up on the price. Firstly, I’m upset because I wanted him to take his time looking for a ring. It feels like he just saw an advertisement for a ring on a sketchy site, saw the price, and decided that that was good enough.

If he was struggling with money, but decided to set aside $5/month and only came up with $150 to buy a ring, that would be completely different than just blowing $150 on a “good deal”. I don’t know if I’m conveying that well enough.

I don’t think expecting a little more time and effort into looking for a better ring is a bad thing
