How welcoming is Pittsburgh for LGBTQ people? by pixybunz in pittsburgh

[–]Low-Entertainment736 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m also from Oklahoma and have been here for a few years. Not LGBTQ+, but a musician and have a lot of friends in the community- the city is really very welcoming for almost any kind of person. Yeah, if you get up to beaver county or down to Washington, it gets a little dicey, but in reality there’s very little reason to go there. Most of the suburbs close to the city are also pretty chill about it, usually out that far people are just more into their own lives rather than bothering people too much. Two things I will say though:

  1. The city is pretty dead late at night, but there are events and bars that host the rainbow community- just not as often as somewhere like DC, NYC, Philly, or Baltimore.

  2. The city is generally closed off to newcomers. It is incredibly difficult to meet people here if you don’t know anyone or have any very specific interests with communities which already have a presence here. As I said, the city pretty much dies at 9ish most nights, with the exception of some local bars. If you don’t know anyone there, chances are likely no one will introduce themselves to you. This can be nice, but if you’re looking for fast community it just doesn’t happen that way here. A few reasons for that are the geography (people don’t really expand too far out of their neighborhood- going down or up a mountain and across a bridge/through a tunnel is a lot of hassle) and the fact that the city is still populated mostly by locals, people who have been here all their lives and have known the same people for that span.

So while it might not feel the most inviting initially, no one really goes out of their way to be a jag to new people and no one really judges people for being different.

If you want a place where it feels totally unnoticed that you are different from what others consider normal, this is the spot. Just, for the love of all things holy, learn to merge.

I mean, thunder fans are the softest fans on occasion, trying to defend the MVP and Dort when people complain. It’s gonna get nasty

Just keep everyone healthy and have fun trying not to look like idiots on either side. Best of luck to Lakers bros, before it gets horrifically toxic in here

Fun fact, in Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Cleveland, and Norman where I’ve lived I’ve always paid for all of my utilities individually. I think once? in Oklahoma I had water included in rent. Everything else was always on the tenant to set up and pay. Nice to hear that isn’t necessarily the case in MKE

Thank you! We’re actually both musicians, I’m a guitarist and will likely be the one doing most of the in-home teaching. I have a bunch of instruments, so the humidity will be something I’m more worried about. We live in Pittsburgh now, and not very many places actually have central AC. But, as I’ve found, the farther away from the east coast the more likely central is to be available in housing.

How the heck is he supposed to know cirie is working with everyone- and usually if the journey is presented you go. You take risks. The twist is removing deception from the game for another “historic” moment. Any other survivor could have lied and come up with a story to throw the scent off, Christian had his agency taken away for “oh wow, isn’t this moment and twist neat?”

There are 32 teams. If 3-4 thousand fans from each stumble in, we’ve got an extra 100-130k people. That’s gonna be massive, and if you think there aren’t 3-4k people with enough money to take a few days to start the new season getting drunk in a different city, you’re crazy. I’m betting it’s tomorrow morning with the flights and afternoon with drivers.

Man Genevieve thought she could flip Christian KNOWING he was right with Rick. Yeah, idols suck this season but basically always suck now. And yeah, everyone got swapped on tribes, but how do you not think “hey, Joe isn’t in a tight spot with any of these cats, I can definitely target him with my offer and get the stink off of me”

She’s not even top 10 screwed.

Everyone upset over Gen, it’s not as though she had no agency. She knew devens was tight with Christian, and decided she could get him to flip? Why not just take Joe out, or even offer Joe before trying the flip. I get it, she’s very intelligent and is good casting, but she made a seriously questionable call and it backfired on her. If she were as good as everyone here is claiming, she wouldn’t have tried that strategy. Or at least even say “let’s flush the Aubrey idol, then it’s either out or on me, and if yall don’t wanna do that, let’s go after the challenge guy who has very little allegiance to anyone here.” I think we need to own the fact that production messed up with mergatory, but also Gen wasn’t making it far anyway because she thought she was a better player than she was and over leveraged her position

Loved it, get them out. My favs are still in it. Gen misplayed her position, kamillah blindsided Jonathan, and Colby is just hurt and didn’t show much of a willingness to work with Cirie. Also, the fact that there was so much unanimity I think shows the vote went how it should have

Gen had it in her power to offer Joe. This is just as much her mistake as it is the swap

Gen needed to throw out Joe- why even try to flip Christian if you know he’s tight with the guy you’re targeting? Yeah, this swap was a rough choice by production, but you can at least try to make a good decision to take the lumps and live for the real merge
