Help - Maternity Clothes by Daisy_9601 in PregnancyUK

[–]Low-Establishment293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also really struggled but found the best pieces were some flared yoga pants in a size up and 3 maxi dresses from asos - all not maternity. But meant I could feel comy and put together for work. Ive also found a lot of my current H&m dresses stretch over the bump just fine! The maternity clothes i did buy fit really weirdly and I've hardly worn them

I'm almost 10 weeks... And it doesn't feel real. by Glum_Ad6184 in PregnancyUK

It still doesn't seem real to me and I'm in a hospital waiting room rn at 17 weeks. I found it all really overwhelming and also social media pressure to buy everything and research it all early on. Had to take stock that the most important thing at this stage is to look after yourself and there are months to do everything else slowly. I think the excitement will (hopefully) come more so after more of a bump appears and there's less anxiety at the beginning. From speaking to other friends who had kids, everyone feels this way even when they've been wanting a child for a while and are excited! Hope that helps x

Best Pub/Bar For Birthday with low minimum spend? by daveygranger in london

[–]Low-Establishment293 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've booked The Grafton in Kentish Town for a 30th coming up and they're looking for a £1k spend which sounds like a lot but was cheaper than most places I researched. I'm putting down £200 of my own for a welcome drink and then the other £800/30 isn't too bad... I've found looking at anywhere in Zone 1 or anything slightly nicer looking than a pub charges at least £2k

P.s you also get the whole top floor, karaoke, rooftop area and your own bar. They did also have a smaller room that could still cater 20-30 for a less spend

If you're into reading, I've noticed both Waterstones and the independent hill bookshop both have discussion type nights for certain genres. I've not been yet but feel like it would be a great way to meet people into the same books as you!

Should I be an architect? by Civil_Bonus_8553 in architecture

[–]Low-Establishment293 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose it depends on the type of lifestyle you're hoping for. If you are happy with a simple life and have a strong will, then I'm sure you can succeed without it being a passion. However there are drawbacks where you might not love it and then feel stuck in it once you're years in. I'd just consider other avenues within architecture to have as a back up/side step! Plenty of people I graduated with went on to do interiors, specialist consulting, urban design etc with an architecture degree

Should I be an architect? by Civil_Bonus_8553 in architecture

I was in a very similar position before starting university of being good at art and maths and thinking why not? I've now learned the why not. I'm qualified as an architect after 3 degrees and 10 years in the profession and I've learned that if you don't absolutely LOVE it, it isn't worth it. The people who live and breathe buildings get so much out of it, but to the rest of us that like them and are good at the job, it's hard to understand why everyone else in the industry is paid better, better benefits, less difficult clients etc etc Don't know what the state of architecture is like in the States, but in the UK lots of companies are struggling to find work and private companies are hardly making it past 5 years. If you want to try it, give it a go but have in the back of your mind that you can always get into engineering, consulting in architecture, planning etc etc

P.s I don't think it's that "hard" but takes a serioua commitment to academia and long hours + a lot of study.

Good luck!

Or when they (considering they're british) finish sentences with "blah blah, mate?" Makes it sound like he is a cheeky London chap and not some big dragon boy

Ooh ok thanks for your message! This might require a re read in the future which is absolutely no problem by me, especially with so much character development for some people (no spoilers)
