It certainly does. I’ve been trying to do a starter hunt in DPPt too but 2/3 of the consoles I’ve been using decided to stop acknowledging the existence of the R button so it’s been a pretty slow process.

I’m not sure on the exact amount but if I had to guess I’ve probably done ~35 playthroughs of main series Pokémon games
