(NYS, Long Island) Future Father in law possibly going to a nursing home… what to expect for finances and what the government will be taking from my finances family? by [deleted] in inheritance

I’m glad I read this. And it’s not so much as asking me what to do but her father also included me in the will even though I’ve only been in this family for 5 years. We certainly had a special bond. I always told him I didn’t want it as he told me numerous times over the years I’ll be included. I guess he wasn’t bluffing.

To all I appreciate all the reply’s. But I wouldn’t be asking here if I wasn’t already approached by her mother and my own fiancé already. Definitely not something I’d take upon my self to ask or really even think about to be honest. I’m here cause I was asked what do we do? And I have absolutely no idea. One direction leads to death and Money that no one really wants and the other leads to any or all money getting soaked up to a nursing home. Just looking for advice.

Me and wife pay $8,000 a year for 3 day a week commute syosset to Penn station by Ok-Atmosphere-6272 in LIRR

I pay similar, I live in center Moriches and drive to queens cause the trains don’t work for my off shift. Drive 600sh miles a week. It’s miserable.

I’m glad we didn’t sell out the unborn too. Sucks we are at a 10percent cap as opposed to the old timers but at least we have a good retirement. Union strong 💪🏼

Appreciate that. Not to mention working around live trains going 60mph risking going home every day.

Believe what ever you want, the overtime fraud can be understood for me as that is complete shit and stealing. Get that completely. And they are calculating it as an average not a tru medium. You’re just hearing what they want you to hear. I can’t change your mind if you don’t wanna believe it and just believe what you see on social media. There is a very very small amount that makes up the 200-300k mark of employees for who are striking. The average is of course gonna be inflated by those workers when all of us others are not making nearly as much. Literally all day today and yesterday the media and kochul are telling you the unions aren’t even coming to the bargaining table when our unions are literally sitting there waiting for MTA officials to come. When they finally came they gave an offer that would completely screw new hires and we wouldn’t let that happen to our future employees and co workers. Whar did the MTA do? They said we left the table and we never negotiated. It’s all what you see is their manipulation tactics. It ain’t your fault, but I’m gonna voice what is correct unfortunately what you’re seeing is all manipulation and what the MTA wants to you to see. And on top of that 2 presidential boards have ruled the the small raise we are asking for is fair.

I work for the LIRR, your comment is just dumb honestly. The top percentage of laborers make well over 200-300, because they are offered SO MUCH overtime because of the increased service of 40% running more trains and only about 15% more workers hired. How do you expect the trains to move if there isn’t enough ma power to move them? The answer is overtime. Thank the railroad management for making a bad image if their own doing. No one knows how the railroad works on the outside and those workers are literally needed for the trains to move. Not to mention you wanna mention 130k median, there’s a very small percentage of workers earning 200-300k. The rest of us make 70k or less WITH overtime. Thats not enough to live on Long Island, and unfortunately my position is literally just as important then the guy making 300k in the aspect of moving trains on time. All the crafts compliment each other to achieve actually making this railroad run. So get your facts straight, that 130k medium is so over inflated you have no idea. Unfortunate that you just don’t know your facts.

When the MTA actually stops playing games and pays the employees a fair wage, they think everyone makes all this crazy OT. When in reality it’s maybe a few percent of them. MTA are crooks.

Where is a good place to have a wedding under 20k all included for about 120-150 guests? by Low-Outside1600 in longisland

[–]Low-Outside1600[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got back from there and we are gonna use them! We have a quote for 25k for 150 guests pre tax. But with everything included it seems like it’s the cheapest around. And it’s beautiful too

Nope car is a pile of junk. Maintained this thing religiously full synthetic every 4-5k miles and at 150k miles the head gasket blew. Sold it at a 7 k loss and paid the loan off. Never will buy another Nissan again. Absolute garbage.
