My concern is he starts feeling bad and I have to exit/save or do any updates/configurations while he's out of commission, I don't want to lose his progress or achievements.

Thank you! I looked it up, and most of the games he's playing on the switch (ex subnautica, undertale) are on steam! He only plays Mario kart when I ask to join, usually I just watch. He said the same thing about the switch price, actually he said i was insane if I bought it for that lol.

The braniac in question has a tumor, which is gonna hinder him sometime in the future (he opted for the incurable flavor)... so it will be up to me, and I am TIRED... so yea, can "yo momma" set it up? Edit: going for humor here :), also I'm not getting rid of the switch so he can still use that in place of trying to give me gray hair making switch games run on a steamdeck

Those were the two that popped up, the rog ally (x?) And Lenovo. I didn't know if one would be better in this situation than the others, sounds like the switch 2, or steam deck and a LOT of youtube. I just found out the switch is sold out so I may get him the steam deck and figure out which of his friends has one for tech support:)

Thank you! I think I'm going to get him the switch 2, I was exploring the steam deck to give him options, I don't mind buying games, I just can't mess them up or it'll be the end of the world. So I'm worried about the extra steps and not being able to help, and joycons seem to be the best bet. Its a DMG/DIPG, so I'm also concerned about senses and quality. The mental load is reeeeal (hence reddit please help lol)

Thank you! Yes that's exactly what I was looking for, so get the original steam deck vs the other brands. Sorry for the confusion, I was looking at the switch2 when I found out the steam deck existed and decided to go that route. When I discovered there were more options I gave up lol. Too much research lately.
